Review: Bomb/Cutter

Ability : Bomb/Cutter

Titles : 64: The Crystal Shards

In the ever so awesome Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, there was an ability system that stood out beyond the others. And as such, there is a single ability that surpasses all... Um, not really, but still, it's cool!

In Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, a favoured combination, at least I hope it was, was the Cutter + Bomb combination! "How do they make it?" Well, you see, it's very difficult to explain. First, they take a chunk of metal and they have to heat it up so it shines a bright- oh wait, you asked "What does it give you?" I thought you already knew! Oh well, guess there's no point in reviewing this if no one bothers with an ability like this. * leaves *

Nah, I'm just kidding. The Cutter + Bomb combo gives you an item that is essential to all ninjas and assassins alike. An ever so awesome shuriken! But what's so special about that? Well obviously you didn't see the the freakin' enemy explode after it hit! That's right, after you chuck a shuriken, or "ninja star" for all those peoples who are Japanese savvy, and it hits something, it'll stick there from a moment and explode, right in the suckers face! Well, that is, if you hit them in the face. Law forbid that you could only hit their face! Have fun with it! Throw it at their butt! Their foot! Anything! They'll freeze once hit, surprised by the shuriken striking them, then they go poof. However, in some cases, like bosses or indestructible enemies, it will hit them for a split second then explode, barely giving you enough time to enjoy and savor the moment. Then again, Gordos and Shotzos can't be killed, and bosses aren't surprised by your amazing ninja powers!

An interesting tidbit for this combo ability was that once you threw it, it would disappear right before your very eyes! Wait... aren't you suppose to do that since, you know, you're a ninja? Ah well, beggars can't be choosers, especially Kirby. But as stated above, it will hit the enemy and becomes visible. Another interesting thing about this ability is that no matter what you do, you defy the laws of physics when you throw a shuriken. Yeah, you heard me. You end up floating in midair for some reason. Must be some powerful ninjutsu Kirby's pulling off it he can manage to throw a shuriken shaped explosive and float in the air without puffing up. Either way, it's great if you like to fool around, and it can prevent some damage from below sometimes via walking enemies.

Now the only bad part is that in the water, it just overall loses it's ninjaness. Everything in the water in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is slowed to a crawl, and Cutter + Bomb is no exception. It takes longer to throw, takes longer to actually reach the enemy you threw it at, and... well, isn't that bad enough? Ninjas are about speed! But in the water, it's like trying to have a one-on-one fist fight in quicksand... Actually, that's exaggeration, but you get the point: it just loses it's awesomeness as soon as you start swimming. Rest assured, the awesome will come back once you get out of the water, so nothing to worry about too much- Uh oh, Aqua Star... Well, time to find a new ability!

So, it may not be the Ninja Kirby we know today, but this substitute Ninja Kirby is pretty good, and it's single attack would beat any normal shuriken any day! Now, go out there and be a ninja! "Believe it!"- NO! * throws exploding shuriken at Naruto * *BOOM* Um, a-anyway, explode stuff, the shinobi way.
