Review: Bomb/Spark

Ability : Bomb/Spark

Title : Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

Kirby has a Bomb power! He's fighting a Sparky! He throws it and grabs the combined abilities. What ability does he have? He has the Lighbulb ability! Okay, I know that sounds lame, but it's actually a rather good ability.

It also was the Kine Spark ability in Kirby's Dreamland 2 and 3, but it was different then. At first sight it seems like a bad ability. It has a smaller explosion than the Snowman (Ice + Bomb), and it doesn't have as much range as the Electroglobe (Spark + Spark). What good is it then? Well, first of all, it is a combination of those two. It is different from both. You can jump across platforms which is normally very useful because this game is a platformer. You also don't explode when an enemy hits you. You'll be fighting loads of enemies, so vulnerability is bad. At the end, it explodes, far enough to give you the chance of escape. You can also set it of prematurely. Fighting a boss? Just explode right next to them. Don't want to have to wait to jump over some tricky platforms? Just set it off. Also, you actually move about as quickly as Kirby normally does, so you can get through things quickly. Lastly, you can stay still. That would hurt it because nobody wants to have to explode just because you want to stop. This ability has speed and protection on its side. That's what makes this ability so useful. Besides, it looks funny.
