Review: CopyAbility : Copy Title : Kirby Super Star Reviewer : Speedy I believe I've clearly stated my preference for melee attacks in my Yo-yo review. So the logical "sequel" would be another melee attack. Sure. Okay. Instead, I'm going to review a completely different ability -- Copy. Featured in, to my knowledge, but a single game, Kirby Super Star, Copy was a very useful ability where Kirby would copy his enemy's power... What is that? You mean... Kirby can copy enemy's power without Copy? Nah, of course he cannot... Can he? Well, whoops. Seems this power is almost without use. Although it's effective since you can also copy enemies which are behind a wall, and... what? Kirby can suck up enemies from beyond a wall? ... Well then, what is the use of Copy?! Perhaps... I should explain my own thoughts on it. Copy is, by far, one of the most useless... and one of the most useful abilities in Kirby Super Star. Taking this ability, Kirby gets some kind of scanner, which scans his enemies, and then gives Kirby the copy ability as required. If the opponent doesn't have a power, or is a (mini) boss, they get damage. Yeeees, you won't need to suck opponents and spit 'em out if you can scan the crap outta them! Even against bosses, it's a pretty useful attack... And hey, if you defeated a mini-boss, why suck him up if you can scan his power? The real beauty of this ability is its use as a helper, though. The Helper transforms into the enemies which have abilities, and then can use their powers as they would if they were normal helpers. Nothing special of course -- except that your Helper... is still the copier! T.A.C., otherwise known as The Ability Copier, kidnaps your helper (or steals your power) before running away hoping to dodge you. Swallowing him gets back your power, defeating him frees your helper. As a helper, T.A.C. can damage opponents with his hand... and what happens if you would change your helper into an item? You can resummon it as T.A.C.! Of course, the real use of Copy comes out in the Milky Way Wishes game. There was no way of copying an ability in that game mode... But! The secret Copy ability would enable that skill! Kirby cannot suck up and swallow enemies in Milky Way Wishes for, in that game mode, he must collect the abilities and then he can change into them infinitely. (Hence my "hammer-throw spam" comment in the Yo-yo review.) Copy may serve no... good use in other game modes, but for Milky Way Wishes, it was the way of getting a power without having it... Unfortunately, even there, the ability is pretty much useless since it'll take you about ten seconds to find an ability trophy. Oh well. ... At least it looks cool, right? |
