It's already been reviewed, but we needed another one! Here comes my opinion on... Sword Kirby!

Sword Kirby has appeared in pretty much every Kirby game, so let's start simple with Kirby's Adventure/Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. It only has one attack (or two? I'm not sure what to say), like most abilities in that game. A very powerful attack, or at least easily spammable. This made it one of the most well-known abilities in the game.

Enter Kirby Super Star/Ultra. Sword is both better and worse at the same time. You'll see what I mean. Its first noticeable edit is the hat, a reference to The Legend of Zelda's main character, Link. He also no longer holds his sword up, or down for that matter, except in the remake. Sword's attacks are now kind of... bleh. All copy abilities now have more range, but they did it in a bad way for Sword. Its standard attack will do one ordinary slash like normal, but then Kirby jumps forward with the sword, meaning you'll get hit by any boss just by attacking. Then, a... sword beam? He already had a full health shot, but they added another one, of sorts. You can also turn around during this attack, being very helpful against the Twin Woods. In the air, the attack that hits all around him that I never mentioned is... gone? No, not really. It's still there, but you must dash first. Otherwise he does a slash diagonally below him. I always dash, so it's fine with me, but for new players, Sword can be really annoying. This attack, however, has you bounce up after it hits. Whee! This is useful against all bosses but Whispy Woods, Whispy's Revenge, and the Twin Woods. Oh, and he also has a dash attack. Down+B in air I'll detail in Triple Deluxe.

Kirby & the Amazing Mirror was (I think) its next appearance. Sword stole Cutter's Final Cutter attack, always uses the attack that hits all around him when in the air, and won't do the annoying combo of attacks that Kirby Super Star gave it. Instead, he will do an ordinary slash, do many slashes so fast you only see the trail of the sword, and then go forward with a powerful slash. Ouchywawa.

Kirby: Squeak Squad gave us Ability Scrolls, and Sword's allows us to use the Fire Sword, Thunder Sword, and Ice Sword. These are separate abilities, though.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land gave us Sword, and it's better now. The combo from Amazing Mirror is back, not like it wasn't in Squeak Squad or anything, and it got the full health shot back. Now, if you hold the button, Kirby does a Link-style Spin Attack. I don't remember its name in the game. Hey, that rhymed! It has a new up attack, replacing Final Cutter, and it just has him jump diagonally upwards with the sword. Lame. But, if you press Down+B during the attack, he falls down diagonally with the sword. Otherwise, he just falls down with his sword below, killing all under him. Aside from that, Sword is like in Super Star again in the air! Ugh! The dash attack is back, and it goes through enemies now.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe brought the Sword back, and better than ever. It's mostly the same as in Return to Dream Land, but now, press B in air, then down right after. What's this? Kirby Super Star's Down+B, but more awesome! Press up on ground, and Kirby raises his blade to the sky. Wait, why's it glowing now? When even not at full health, Kirby can shoot a beam like always. If you use the Link-style Spin Attack and hold the up button, Kirby jumps up while spinning with the sword, allowing him to show airborne enemies his power. Ouch!

It's exactly the same in Kirby: Planet Robobot, but Team Kirby Clash's Sword Hero is slightly different. Spin Attack can be charged more, and Guarding will create a protective shield for your friends.

How good is Sword? It's hard to say, but I always liked it. Try this power out next time you get the chance! It might be better than you thought!
