Collaborative Story A Starry Night

When we last left off... (Read the entire preceding post in this storyline, or follow this plot from the beginning.)

Limitless lights lined a night sky. Each pinpoint stuck to the pitch black expanse, gently wavering its soft light in a silent chorus with the stars surrounding. Each blinking beacon cast its beams far and away and down till they reached the surface of another star -- Pop Star. Only this speckled sky was visible, and the partly lit, pallid, placid plains below were just as eventful the lazy night overhead.

Somewhere, amid the black in between, however, something stirred...

A Fiery Foe and a Shooting StarAuthor #16 - 6:42pm Dec 17th, 2009

Prism Plains was a busy place during the morning, but once the sun set, it was completely barren. This night was no exception. The only creature still around was a single Galbo, getting some shuteye at the top of a particularly tall hill. He sat contently in a patch of grass, dreaming of roast Grizzo.

A streak of light shot across the sky, illuminating the plains. The Galbo took no notice. The streak grew ever closer, becoming brighter by the second. The Galbo paid it no mind. Finally, the streak made contact with the ground, letting out a deafening noise as it hit. Now the Galbo couldn’t help but notice.

The chubby semi-dragon woke with a startle. Instinctively, he shot out a stream of fire, hoping to incinerate whatever had just made that noise. After a few seconds of flame spitting, it became apparent that whatever had woken him up wasn’t in the immediate vicinity.

What was it then? A Walky practicing his high notes? A Bomber tripping over a rock? The Galbo swerved his body around, getting a good look at his surroundings.

Suddenly, he spotted the source of his rude awakening. About half a mile from his hill, there was a small, smoldering crater in the ground. Galbo squinted at the hole, trying to make out what made it. Unable to discern the crater's source, he started hopping towards it, hoping to get a better look. Now that he was awake, he may as well investigate.

Galbo’s body wasn’t exactly built for locomotion. Lacking any legs or arms to speak of, he had a bit of difficulty getting around. As he continued to hop across the plains, the crater became clearer and clearer. Before he could reach the freshly made impact site, a tiny purple and black orb emerged from the hole. Galbo immediately hopped behind a tree. Whatever this thing was, he didn’t want to be spotted by it. The orb rose several feet into the air, and then became still. With a spark of electricity, four spider-like metal legs emerged from the levitating ball. Slowly, it returned to the ground.

“Unit Turbite has achieved impact,” buzzed the spidery orb, “Awaiting further instructions.”

Galbo peeked out from behind the tree as the creature crawled around, surveying the area. Stricken with fear, the reptile-blob rushed off as fast as his limbless body would take him. He wanted to be as far away from that thing as possible.

Spider Orb, Spider Orb, Searchin' For Whatever It Is They're Searching For...Author #13 - 11:14am Jan 26th, 2010

All over Dreamland, these strange spider orbs came crashing down, waking those who were asleep and interrupting other venues.

Including that of Kirby and Gooey, who were just outside Kirby's home with a pile of fish.

"Salt!" Kirby exclaimed, holding up a random saltshaker. He was about to add some salt when another spider orb came crashing down nearby. The resulting thud knocked them over, and Kirby dropped the saltshaker, spilling salt everywhere. Kirby screamed when he saw this. "I spilled the salt! I... I wanted that on the fish... alas, poor salt, I knew ye well..."

"...what's that?" Gooey asked. Kirby turned to see the spider, which quickly scanned them. Each time, a red X appeared on the orb.

"Scan results negative. Continuing search." With that, it walked away.

"...should we be worried about that?" Kirby wondered.

"I was worried about the salt," Gooey said. "I figured you'd--" A piano then fell on Kirby.

All over Dreamland, the spiders searched for whatever it was they were on the hunt for, until they found it...

Gooey was trampled by 2 moving Spider orbs and became very stupid.

Very, very, very stupid. So much so that he saw the happy gas that suddenly seeped in.

"Gas code H4PPY released. Resume normal scanning."

It was only a few minutes before the whole of dreamland was engulfed with the stupid maker, the deadly happy gas. Soon EVERYONE became happy, very happy, a little too happy, way too happy. Too happy for their own good. They stumbled around making "YAJEEJAJAAJEE" sounds while the Spider orbs effortlessly scanned them. Still, even in their happy state, the whole of dreamland was still wondering what these Spiders where doing.

"Commence permanent scan mode." the Spider orbs bellowed, as they double checked the dreamlanders with their scanner permanently scanning. It would only be a while until the Spider orbs would get what they want.

Gooey, who has now recovered from the earlier trampling, is the only one who just saw the gas and wasnt affected by it. He now sets off, toungue in tow, to find out just what the Spider orbs want.

But, just RIGHT after he left, Kirby finally crawls out of the broken piano. On his way out, he eats a nearby TAC for food. Suddenly, a searching orb comes across him.

"Scanning, Scanning results negative."

"Uh, uh, scanning, uh, Spider orb?" Kirby said in slight anxiety.

"Affermative, I am a Spider orb unit."

"Where's Gooey?"

"That lifeform is not of importance or relevance at this time, tell me about that which is on you're head!"

"Um, it gets abilities for me when i'm not hungry."

"Also, I can tell everything about a person or a things history with this!"

"You must surrender the scanner right now."

"Is there going to be any reward for me?"

"You do not deserve rewards, give me the scanner."

The spider orb desperately tried to remove the scanner from kirbys shiny bald head, but to no avail. The object seemingly superglued to the pudgy blobs head.

"You must come with me."

"Why?"

At that moment, a web sprang out of the orb and injected Kirby with happy gas. Happily incapacitated, Kirby unwillingly gave in and was took to the Spider orbs location.

when kirby woke up, he was being looked over by 3 masked minions. kirby opened his mouth to scream, but he found he couldn't. the minions chuckled. they were each diffrent; the first was a Boten, the second was a Foley and the last a Keke. Keke smirked as kirby looked around the room. he tried to look away from his body lying on a table. The Boten said "yeah, we took your brain and eyes out of your body to form a monster. here is your new body..." Boten gestured to Spider Orb. kirby shrieked inside his head. the Foley snickered as kirbys body was carted away. kirby felt faint, but... oh no! kirby looked around in a panic. he shoved his eyes aginst the glass and pain shot through him. all three chuckled darkly. then kirby blacked out...

when he woke up, he felt diffrent somehow... he glanced at a Mirra. he shrieked when he saw his body- a spider orb. the Mirra snickered. a Starman in a crisp white cape came into the room. "hullo kirby." Starman said.

"back off..." the kirby-orb tried to say. his mouth, however said,'ullo master.'

the Starman chuckled. "so kirby, how do you feel. "horrid!" 'wonderful.'

"good. now, for your mission..."

The masterful Starman then directed his attention to a blue eyed Spider Orb, this was the Spider Scientist. He was the one who would examine that who is not of them. Kirby was given an alias of "Nu" and was told to follow the Spider Scientist.

"Nu" Kirby followed the Scientist, confirming his suspicion of also being psyhically automated as well. Soon enough, they were in a dark, dank room with a slight green hue, only given off by the light of a tube-shaped device. Nu Kirby reluctantly, and at the same time, happily, went into the device.

The knowledgable yet quiet scientist started scanning differently from a normal Orb pawn, a lazer line touched every atom on Nu Kirbys body. After many attempts, the Spider Scientist leaned back, as if threatened by the patient he just tried to operate on.

"What's wrong?" Nu Kirby willingfully said.

"S-stay back."

It was clear that the scientist was unable to scan Kirbys extraordinary self, his organs, his mind, his limbs were an absoulute puzzle to the Spider.

Nu Kirby managed to start to gain will over his voice, asking why the scientist was afraid. He started stepping toward the shooken orb, who started to shake violently to the point of smoke making an appearance.

A very loud boom ringed throughout the ship, Nu Kirby regained his compusure to see that the top half of the spider scientist had exploded. Still perplexed, Kirby tried to look into the dead doctor, but before he could, nearby pawns captured him and put the confused captive in a padded room until further investigation.

Kirby listened to the outside, there were no voices, but a gate had been opened. The door to the padded room was opened slightly, with a black mass with a mask peeking through.

Kirby moved to see the creature better, but at that second, many more started to rush in, ambushing Kirby. The puffball is in grave danger at the hands of the Spider orbs, and must find a way to defeat these shadows, then the orbs.

Kirby stared at the shadows apprehensivley, and they formed a small clumpy mass in the middle of the room. The shadows formed a medium-sized orb. The orb began to change colour until it was formed into a medium navy-blue orb with white eyes.

"MedaNite?" Kirby whimpered. The orb walked up to Kirby, its eyes watering. It clenched its eyes in pain, and Kirby gasped as he saw why- there was a small wound in its side. Kirby gasped as the darkness again shifted into...

...Meta Knight's mask.

The creatures were feeding off of Kirby's suppresed side, agonizing him by showing him those he cannot see, the creatures themselves were the weakest of the weak, but their mental paralyzation had worked, Nu Kirby did not attack it.

Done with its show, the Shadow morphed into a massive disgusting pink mass with a gaping fish mouth and round eyes, it constantly grabbed back little bits of itself desperately, and sometimes tried to grab Kirby himself.

Indeed, it was a very tough enemy to overcome. This was not just a mass of sadness, it was the mass of sadness which represented HIM.

Kirby fought hard against the mass of pink, enduring its attacks, and dealing as much damage as he could, trapped in a robotic suit. This kept going on until Kirby finally managed to exhaust the shadow.

Then suddenly, the shadow turned back to its blank red-eyed self. This time with no grin, no clawed arms, and its eyes looking on in slight expectation. Kirby's other side had been rejected. It was waiting for itself to be accepted, for whatever kind of thing it was symbolizing with its former form. Kirby didn't know what to do...
