Round Knight Recruit Guidelines

While it was all already stated on the main page, I want to make sure the criteria are clear. Only the first two are prime directives. The rest are more just suggestions and marks. So, to spell it out clearly, here's all that you can do to make your submission count:

  1. It's regular Knights, not Meta Knights
  2. Pick a weapon that isn't used by an existing Knight
  3. Real Knights wear armor, especially helmets
  4. Knights come in more shapes than just "ball"
  5. Give some idea of what they do to attack
  6. Consider a unique emblem or crest
  7. Some weapons are more fancy than others
  8. Go nuts with some pictures

That's just the outline. If further details are needed, follow it down the bla-blah. Otherwise, go and check out what's currently seen as appropriate.

Common Knight, Not Meta Knight - The most important thing about the submission, a plain ol' enemy knight is being created. This is not to generate some mask wearing, winged, supreme Kirby clone. No, it is to be like one in Meta Knight's army. Ax, Mace, Javelin, and Trident Knight, even Sword, Blade, and Heavy Knight, and just to round things off, why not Sir Kibble, Masher, Blade, Butch, and Bukiset.

Unique Armament - Your knight is identified by its choice of weapon, typically. It must be a weapon not used by any of the existing knights, which means no axes, no spears, and no swords. There are way too many other weapons out there for anyone to need to go to that one, not to mention it's wielded by half a dozen others already.

Note, if another submission beat you to the punch, don't fret. The restriction is just on official characters already possessing it. This means you can still make your version of "Glaive Knight" even at the unlikely point of someone else submitting it. However, "Battleax Knight" is still just wielding an ax. No. That's a real, officially recognized Knight already. Pick something else.

Suit Up or Ship Out - Armor is required. This typically is done in some manner of helmet, which every knight wears. Not just a mask, no. The skull should be entirely protected. It may not look like a real medieval helmet, but it's metal and its on the head, which most Knights are 50% head anyway.

A Varied Lot - The knights are very diverse to say the least. Trident and Ax are round bodied, but Blade and Heavy follow more of a bean shape. Mace has a squat body that his head sits upon rather than wholly being. Blade Knight is a cyclops. Sword Knight has a projecting head. Javelin Knight is some kind of robot.

War Tactics - All enemies do something, and the Knights sometimes do two. This isn't much, typically standing in place and swinging their weapon or tossing it at direction. It's not much, but some idea of what they'd do in a game should be given.

Iconic Markings - Ax Knight bears a skull. Trident Knight wears a crescent. Blade Knight is a cyclops under that green guard. The Knights tend to have something that identifies them outside of their weapon. It's that special flair that makes them pop. If you don't pop, then you're flat, and no one likes a flat pop.

More Than Meets the Eye - It's not uncommon for a Knight to brandish a weapon that does more than just hit. Tridents are electrified and shock the player. Javelin are searing hot and burst Kirby into flames. Bukiset, well, he covers the whole gambit of what weapons could do.

Picture Perfect - Round Knight Recruitment is being pushed as the first "artisticly focused" Interactive Fandom. That means you aren't just encouraged to draw your own Knight, but, hey, why not draw someone elses? Maybe you didn't even submit your own. Do something, why not? It's all happening at the Fanart Gallery.
