This thread is dedicated to scanning the legendarily unknown manga series 'mo~retsu pupupu awaa!' which could be translated as 'Intense Pupupu Hour!'. Let's call it Project 'Mo~Pupu!'* !!

*Credits to Japanese fans who came up with this name.
The series started in 2006 and has its chapters published in the corocoro games magazine. The manga version gets at least one new volume every year, the newest one is vol. 12 from April and vol. 13 will be released in December. Its author is roughly 60 years old. It's an officially licenced manga that serves as advertisement for new Kirby games by implementing new characters and plots into this slice-of-life comedy.

The OP post should include a short overview of characters and the download links to complete volumes, once available. This section will need some time before being built.
MEGA will be the host of our uploads. Page size of edited HQ scans will be around roughly 1350x2030 pixels.
There exist two (legal) sample chapters on the web: volume 08, chapter 11 and Robobot Special

COMPLETE VOLUMES:

--Volume 10 (raw): scanned by Sexy Slime

[-volume 04 (raw) in progress: Sexy Slime]
[-volume 11 (raw) in progress: KirbStomp]

Currently working their asses off on this are: KirbStomp, Sexy Slime.
Help is appreciated, there's always scanning, image repair, translation and type setting to do~
Remember to open/edit manga pages as grayscale (Photoshop and such) and save them as .png by choosing 'save for web'; some tutorials better be linked here some day.

:kirby101:
KirbStomp: 'Don't worry, you can read these books and chapters in pretty much any order you like, they're all self contained stories. It's in Japanese, but the illustrations are great to look at on their own, and honestly, the plot is simple enough that it's not that difficult to get a basic idea of what's going on.'
>However, it is a great read for anyone learning Japanese.

EDIT: Okay, just so people seeing this thread for the first time know, the scan project has been moved to http://mopupumanga.tumblr.com/ You can find all of our scans and translations there.

Here's my master post! I own volumes 1 to 11.
Image

This is my MEGA folder for ya'll!!

Volume 10:
ALL CHAPTERS are scanned and uploaded (raw). This includes cover art (already edited). I reduced the filesizes somewhat (2MB/picture).
Chapter 4 has been cleaned up, remaining in Japanese for now. Filesize is around 300kb/picture.

My life has gotten busier now, but I'll deliver nonetheless!

I know some Japanese and I might end up translating some especially requested chapters. Annoy me and I'll translate them into German
All those puns scare me already.

I've seen so many different translations of the title (星のカービィ! もーれつプププアワー!), it's confusing! Everyone seems to choose different things to leave in Romanji, and translate to English. It'd probably help if I knew even a tiny bit of Japanese before hopping on board with this but OH WELL.

Awa or Hour? Hoshi No Kabi or Kirby of the Stars? Moretsu or Mo~retsu? Moretsu or Intense? I guess calling it "Mopupu" makes things a lot easier.
Also, is it Kabi or Kaabii? Never been quite sure.

(my internet connection ate my post before submission :shakefist: )
星のカービィ = hoshi-no kaabii
The 'a' and 'i' in カービィ are long vowels. The title is a simple possessive construction (owner の possession) with の being a lot like the 'apostrophe s'. But "Stars' Kirby" sounds awful, therefore the phrase is changed to "Kirby of the stars".
も~れつプププアワー! = mo~retsu pupupu awaa/ hour !
アワー is literally 'hour' spelled with Japanese vowels. It's one of those loanwords for words that already existed in a language.
プププ is Pupupu or Dreamland, obviously.
も~れつ / mo~retsu with '~' is a slang way of writing long vowels. It's properly written もうれつ / mouretsu and sometimes written in Kanji (猛烈). A dictionary will come up with several words which cause different people to translate it differently. I'm all in for 'intense' because that's basically what all those words break down to. I don't want to sound stupid, but I don't even know how to pronounce 'bodacious'.
A nice German translation would be 'heftig'...

Seems interesting. As much as I'd like to help in some way, I don't exactly know much Japanese (I can read Hiragana and Katakana, but I'm not much help at translating sentences or anything.) And... I'm really not sure what I can do. ^^;

Yeah, the main problem is that all the different takes on translation makes it a pain the butt to look up on the internet. If there was just one unified way it was translated, I wouldn't have enter it in differently 4 separate times to find all the different places I could buy it from.

I suppose searching "星のカービィ! もーれつプププアワー!" will yield the most results, but good luck finding any English websites that way.

(also, Slime, it's pronounced "Bo day shus" but it's not like anyone uses that word anyway, haha.)

Axcyia, just knowing that there's some interest in the manga is good enough, but there's always gruntwork like touching up images or naming files that we could have you do, if you don't feel confident translating. Of course, you don't have to do anything, just let us know if you enjoy it and stuff!

Knowing what Japanese characters look like is very convenient for clean up but that task is tedious and we better not dive into translating everything asap. We start slowly and with confidence, we already have a follower with you and any actual scanlation work will be done to selected chapters first. It's all about providing nice HQ raws first and I can only recommend buying the manga.

Slime, I'll get to separating/resizing pages soon-ish.

Don't worry about speed, this is no contest. I've scanned the first half of volume 10 but preparing the pages for upload will still take me some time.
But I am glad you are so quick to deliver your progress

I'm very interested in this, but sadly, there's not much I can do to help.
Well, I DO have a friend who is studying Japanese, but he's still a beginner and I don't know if he would have time to translate those.
But if there's anything else I can do to help, just tell me, I would be happy to. :)

It's totally fine if you can't contribute, again, just knowing that people are interested in the project is good motivation for me to keep scanning.

A slice of life manga sounds like the kind of thing I would buy.

Putting it together, piece by piece♪
I can't decide whether I should upload the completely unedited raws or not. The file size is the main aspect putting me off, yet I understand that you'd just love to actually get to see something.
And yes, it is mostly comfy and smug slice-of-life that gives some great characterization to the characters.

Well, Slime, if you need any gruntwork done (touchup/resizing files), send me some of the raws and we can split the work.

I really hope that this manga is uploaded fully soon! I'm really eager to read it and the corocoro style is really cute!

Well, there are a total of 12 books (and counting) to scan, so it's probably gonna a be a while before they're ALL done, but I certainly plan on finishing them. Sexy Slime has been pretty busy recently, which is why you haven't heard from them a lot, and I'm in the middle of packing to move, so there hasn't been a lot of time to just sit down and scan stuff, but we both want to share the series with more people!

Any manga with Marx in it has to be seen, after all.

Also, a few more books came in, I now have books 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. Hoping the others will arrive soon too.

I'm in the process of moving, which is why I haven't updated in a while. I still plan on scanning more once I'm all finished with this crap, so hold tight!

Damn, I was gone for at least 3 weeks. But now's the time I deliver at last. I'll put a link to MEGA in my master post which should be working? It includes the raw scans of Volume 10 chapters 1 to 10 (there are some more yet to be scanned) nicely put into .zip files. Each page is approx. 2MB large now after spending two minutes on each and every page opening them in Photoshop as grayscales and saving them "for web". That's some good stuff because it reduces filesize drastically.
Another folder includes 2/3 of chapter 4 the way I'd call it cleaned up, yet still completely in Japanese. Clean up takes a lot of time...

Tell me if any links or pages are broken! A manga with some good Taranza in it has to be spread, I say. Tell me, KirbStomp, what does volume 12 have in store? (:\/) I still haven't acquired that one yet.
