The search thing isn't working for me, and I don't want to double post on the Mario topic, so I'm posting this hear.

Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation reviews New Super Mario Bros. Wii (and Left 4 Dead 2, I guess):

I feel like Yahtzee was way too harsh on New Super Mario Bros. Wii, especially considering that there hasn't BEEN any, or rather many side-scrolling platformers these days, and the fact that he said it shouldn't exist makes me feel very angry and upset.

Yeah, he's got a point about not making progress, but then again, when most of the games these days are just 3D platformers, maybe the best way to make progress again is to go back to basics, you know?

The file size of the game is stupidly small for one thing. Easily could have fit on a DS cart. Everything that was claimed couldn't be done with the game is just a @$#^ excuse to be lazy and still make money. (A very common practice) The visuals are a bit better that the original New Super Mario Bros. but they're hardly 'nice' from any standpoint.

It's a good game but it doesn't feel like a Wii game. It's like you're paying $15 extra for a DS one.

Pretty much all that stuff. It IS a DS game, with beefier graphics (Which you can barely tell due to how underpowered the Wii is dohohohoho) and a few @$#^ motion-controlled parts that no one will miss ever.

They say this thing pushes the Wii's capabilities to its limits, and if that's true the Wii is far, far, far @$#^ than anyone expected. It's !@#$% Mario. This does not have !@#$% Havok physics or bump mapping or I don't know what. It has a portly plumber slaughtering turtles. It does nothing the SNES didn't do except zoom out a bit, which wouldn't even happen on DS because you'd have multiple screens!

There is no goddamned reason for us to get New Super Mario Bros. Wii. We should have gotten New Super Mario Bros. 2, for the DS.
