Yes, I’m making a thread about this because I will forever be angry I didn’t get to experience the mid 2000s.

For those who don’t know, Nsider was an official Nintendo forum that existed from 2003 to 2007. Its closure in 2007 came without warning, and as result much of it is lost to time. However, a good chunk was archived. The Bell Tree Forums has most, if not all avatars from Nsider on their own site, and The Wayback Machine has some pages saved.

Here, I’m going to post some of my favorite threads from Nsider. They had boards for many Nintendo games, including Kirby, so I’ll likely post a lot here before I run out of threads to talk about.

(I hope someone on KRR is interested in Nsider like I am. I’d love to talk about it more here!)

Starting off with an Animal Crossing topic, this thread from 2004 discusses why there is no Easter in Animal Crossing. I can’t help but wonder how everyone felt when City Folk introduced an Animal Crossing equivalent of Easter, Bunny Day, years later in 2008.

This seems interesting. I'll be interested to see what else you post!

Thank you! I hope you continue to post here whenever I add a “new” thread!

Here’s something a bit more interesting. This is a thread for users to submit short reviews that could possibly get in the Nintendo Power magazine. (As Nsider was closely related to Nintendo Power, I suspect the change in management Nintendo Power underwent in 2007 may be why Nsider closed so suddenly.) With the exception of pages 12 and 14(for whatever reason), all pages up to 31 are archived. A majority of the reviews are Animal Crossing: Wild World and Mario Kart DS on the earlier pages, and New Super Mario Bros. on the later pages. Special mention goes to the Mario Party Advance review on page 9, which appears to be one the few clearly negative reviews on the thread.

Huh, R.O.B. was in Mario Kart DS. I should get a couple of these games sometime.
Why did I get so happy when I saw that guy with King Dedede as their avatar

What the amazing thought for me about this is, is that these posts are so old... the ones in that thread are almost as old as I am. Just a few months' difference.

Oh definitely. I’ve played quite a few of these games, and most of them I enjoyed. Fire Emblem Path of Radiance may be my favorite game of all time, and Wild World is outdated by today’s standards but did a lot of great things for the Animal Crossing franchise and its influence is still seen to this day. Not to mention Mario Kart DS’s great single player mode.

There’s a couple of Chibi-Robo reviews on the thread. I’ve been wanting to play that game for a while, but I haven’t gotten to it yet. Same with Wario World, another GameCube game. (Although there are no Wario World reviews on the thread, I still wanted to mention it.)

I've never really looked into Chibi-Robo or Wario's games, although I've heard a lot of good stuff about them. I've definitely got to look into those too sometime soon.

Introducing the first of what will likely be a dozen or so Kirby related threads, here’s a Kirby Squeak Squad sprite comic made by a fan in 2007, shortly after the game released. There’s a shout out to KRR, complete with a link to the old site back when it was hosted by ClassicGaming. Plus all those gifs just screams 2000s!

(I’m aware that I’ve been posting a lot on this thread. Luckily, updates should start to slow down to a more normal pace once I begin to run out of topics to talk about.)

Thanks. I sometimes have to dive deep to find archived threads. I’m posting them here so they won’t be forgotten.

A Fire Emblem thread about a Path of Radiance translation error. Some interesting stuff about how translation works is in here. Since this didn’t get enough posts to reach page 2, this thread is fully archived!

A thread discussing how Pokémon is “becoming popular again”. Only page 1 is saved as expected. For context, Pokémon was “unpopular” during the Gen 3 era.

I’m bringing this thread back because I really liked it, there isn’t much activity left here anyways, and honestly, why SHOULDN’T I bring this thread back? It’s awesome!

One difference that will be present is that I may post threads from other defunct forums, most notably the Nick message boards.

That’s not the case for the first documentation of the comeback, though!

This was a thread for the Golden Sun community. Only the first page is documented, sadly. AGENT predicted the future, as the third game DID kill off the series (most likely due to incredibly poor sales, but other factors could’ve gone into play as well). Also, their question did get answered; Alex is still alive! … Sort of…

Okay, nobody’s been posting on KRR, so I’m bringing back this thread AGAIN. And I’m talking about the Nick Message Boards like I said I would. (No, I am not changing the thread title.)

First off, even back in 2002, people were realizing Cosmo’s voice was becoming higher pitched, although the original poster seemed to like that, and this was also during the days of Season 2, before it got REALLY high pitched. There were numerous comparisons to Timmy’s Dad, and someone eventually figured out that, yes, they have the same voice actor. (Even getting the actor’s name correct.)

Looking back on these threads is WEIRD, because, like, do you think anybody who posted in that thread nearly 20 years ago still likes Fairly OddParents, especially after all the seasonal rot it went through and especially especially after what the creator turned out to be?

And trust me, it’s only going to get weirder from here on out. The Nick Message Boards is a goldmine beyond Nickelodeon-related topics.

There’s nothing else to do because Halloween and Christmas are a ways away, so expect regular postings here for a little while. For real this time!

I’m depressed and that makes it harder for me to do ANYTHING, including make posts on KRR. Whoops.

Anyways, here’s a thread about Shrek 2, except not really, and ‘not confirmed’. Also, there were only a few replies, and all of them were saved.

https://web.archive.org/web/20030210020 ... 8&offset=0

vampire thought it would be a ‘floop’, but they were wrong because from what I’ve heard, Shrek fans consider Shrek 2 to be the best Shrek movie. That’s a lot of Shreks. Although I don’t know much else… I’ve really got to get to watching the Shrek movies someday. Except Shrek the Third. I’d rather get Shrek’d than watch through that. (As for if Shrek Forever After is good… there’s been conflicting reports on that one.)

(Also, the movie released nearly a month PRIOR to what was stated in the original post.)
