Kirby's Rainbow Resort

Every time I try to load another forum that I am a moderator of, ever since about 10 PM EST last night, I get this message.
What does this mean, and can it be fixed or is the site done for?

my name is craig tucker. last week was my birthday. my grandma gave me a check for 100 dollars, i was so happy. but then, four kids from school came to my house, and said i should use my 100 dollars to invest into becoming a peruvian flute band. they promised i would double my money in 1 afternoon, but the government arrested us, along with all the other peruvian flute bands and took us to an interment camp in miami. we begged to go home, but instead the government told us they were sending us to peru. and so that is why i am now in peru. if i die, let it be known that it is because four guys i don’t even like from school lied to me and took my birthday money.

I asked an old friend of mine from the site about it via Chickensmoothie and he said everyone is having that issue, and it "should be fixed soon". I just hope it doesn't jeopardize the site data bc another site I'm on did something similar a few years ago and the servers were completely wiped. Even of the accounts.

The mysql_connect() is the important part in the error message. In layman's terms, the site can't connect to the underlying database server. Nothing you can do about it specifically unless you have physical server access.

Pretty much, every function prefixed with mysql_* has been deprecated in favor of mysqli_*. This is the problem the KRR servers ran into, but instead of simply being undefined, we were getting errors.

There is probably a configuration for the forum somewhere that picks between mysql and mysqli.

The file in question is forums/config.php

$dbms should likely be 'mysqli' or something equivalent.

Ah, that would explain it. Although the admins of that particular site apparently decided to just shut it down sometime thereafter.
