Heavenly King Dedede

King Dedede (Daimyo) as one of the four Heavenly Kings of Buddhism who guard the cardinal directions. Waddle Dees pose as Oni, which he stands on. Inquire if you'd like to know more... Look at this people! The watercolor and ink combine on the page for a true work of art! Excruciating details ARE excruciating! This took alot of time, concentration, and skill to craft (as do all of my works) but, believe it or not, is not the reason I have been gone for over a month. My old motherboard had been fried by Zen, the intergalactic robot-ninja, and I had to battle the forces of good and evil to enact revenge! Now I have returned to the Rainbow Restort with a head of Zen, and a shiny new Toshiba Sword, forged in Japanese Hell and ready for new art-endeavors. The mailbag after this next one will surely feature me, so Rainbow Resorters, give me all you got! I will cut-down whatever you send with a slice of my pen. Watch your backs! I'm taking requests.

Your art is getting better and better! Better than perfect! Laughing Wow, more than 101 art! I wish I could make that much in that time!

Indeed... is it possible to get any better, Daimyo?! It's like, just as we think "his art couldn't get much better than this!", it.... does. Shocked The shading and highlights have really careful attention paid to them, with a really smooth look overall. The amount of detail on Dedede's clothes is amazing, and the colors are vibrant. Personally, my favorite part is the cloth swirling around him, giving it a sense of elegance. Laughing I love asian-inspired art, it's interesting to get a glimpse of a different country. Ah... there's too much in this picture to comment on, but I think I'll cut it here. Wink

Why did Zen "the intergalactic ninja" fry your computer?
Dedede-Daimyo   [Jun 12, 2009 at 02:01 PM]
The story in the description relates to the introduction of Mailbag 64 (on Nintendo 64?!). Anyway, for those unimaginative types, my old comp totally kicked the bucket, and I was swamped with work, and EVERYTHING in my family happens in May. So, my absence is explained. Jeeze, I really have over 100 art entries? It seems like just yesterday that I had less than 50... Must be all those sculptures. They're taking over!
Anyway, a behind the scenes look at my process>> First, I gather various resource pictures to help plan the character's costume, and to aid in understanding the original story. Then I draw a rough sketch of Dedede in such a pose on scrap paper. Next, using a light table, I trace the sketch onto thick watercolor paper and add the intricate details and designs of the costume. Then, I go over all my lines in brushed India Ink and make any stylistic alterations. Once dry, I erase all pencil lines except for those indicating a "lineless design" like on his sleves. Finally I apply marker and waterbrush it out for a smoothing effect. This processis the longest and most challenging. Each area of color must first be worked and let dry before starting on a new color. The background is added last. The picture is then cropped (it was originally wider than this) and scanned onto the computer, where I can add text and make very minor alterations (like deleating smudges, etc. from the white area). So there you have it~! If my computer hadn't been fried, my brain surely would have!

Hey, Kirby-4-ever Razz Thank you VERY much for asking to use my art. I dislike it when people just take without asking and post it wherever they choose. But i respect you for asking ^_^. Yes, I give you permission to use some of my pics in a YouTube video. And thanks so much for offering to do a tribute! I only wish that you link to my gallery here at KRR in the description. BTW, I have an account there, but I only use it to gather music I like to listen to while making art. See if you can find me and check out my playlist.

Oh, so you're taking requests? Razz Well, since I'll be away from home starting tomorrow, I probably won't get to see it done in time, but I would like a picture of the Ripple Star princess from Kirby 64.
