Essence of Dream Course3826 views12th in my "Essence of" series. Boy, this was fun to draw! So much Dedede-influence! Kirby's Dream Course for the SNES was a 'different' type of Kirby game. Its main premise was golf. Kirby could roll into a ball to charge up his shot, then spring forward to try and reach the hole. He could destroy enemies and obtain abilities just by bouncing into them- all in all, the game was quite fun, but tedious. The only boss in the entire game is King Dedede, fighting in his giant, robot replica, with Mini-Dededes.13 commentsDedede-Daimyo

Wood_Knight_001.jpg
Wood Knight3495 viewsWood Knight is my creation for the Round Knights of the Table “Interactive Fandom”, which took nearly a month to completely render-- planning, picture, and prose! Anyway, I’d thank you for actually reading what I have written, as it contains a great amount of knowledge and thought put into it.
Wood Knight draws especially from Chinese history and philosophy, and if you had not figured it out by now, is a Kirbyfied version of the “Terracotta Warriors”, which are thousands of realistic, life-size clay statues unearthed from the tomb of China’s first Emperor. This is part of the reason he is sometimes referred to as Terracotta Knight. The clothing he wears is reminiscent of that worn by Qin Dynasty soldiers, with plated metal or leather armor instead of clay. His wood staff takes the shape of a horse head because horses and equestrian skills were very important to China’s history. Also, all the original Terracotta Warriors’ weapons had deteriorated from age, but the large horse statues in the tomb had survived. The sonar on top of his helm is based on a type of hairstyle generals in the Qin army wore. Terracotta’s blindness comes from being buried under ground for so long; his great age being the reason for his one-hit-K-O lifespan.
Also rooted in Wood Knight’s being is thought from the Chinese oracle, I Ching; in particular, the Hexagram of “Pushing Upward”. Its basis is that of wood springing forth from the earth (I.E.; the growing wood staff extends from Terracotta> ‘baked earth’). In addition, I believe this fortune applies to me as well, as the underlying meaning states: a man will reach a high position if he is steadfast in his actions and puts in the work for success! Anyway, feast your eyes on my hard-made comic! It follows the description on the IF page.

Essence_of_Avalanche_001.jpg
Essence of Avalanche4531 views13th in my "Essence of" series. They're taking over!!! Yes, Kirby's Avalanche/Ghost Trap is a Puyo Pop clone puzzle game; making it similar to Dr. Mario. The only all-American Kirby game, Avalanche pitted Kirby against foes from older games, on a mission to reach the Dream Spring Championship. The game was overly simple; however, this pic turned out incredibly complex. I think this pic has taken the most time to complete yet. Looking back on my older work, I am sickened by lack of effort put into some, compared to my later stuff.24 commentsDedede-Daimyo

KRR "IF" Kodomo no Hi4000 viewsIf you guys thought my Hina Matsuri pic was good, then you will all love this. May 5th was Kodomo no Hi (Children's Day/ Boy's Day) in Japan, and though I am an entire month late, I hope that the good-cheer and festivity can still shine through today. I have included every Round Knight/ Red Knight, officially submitted or otherwise, in this double-wide picture extravaganza! To the best of my ability, no one was left out. This was a truely beloved contest, steaming with creativity and effort from the fans (and it's creator!), but I am not content by its lackluster finale. No offence, but shouldn't the fans be rewarded for all the hard work and originality they put into this? I hope my picture can serve as a consolation prize to all who submitted, participated in, or missed out on this Interactive Fandom contest. And, yes, I am now officially back to save the Gallery/ Mailbag/ KRR site from the stagnant drought of good art/ compassion/ fun.

Heavenly_King_Dedede_001.jpg
Heavenly King Dedede3149 viewsKing Dedede (Daimyo) as one of the four Heavenly Kings of Buddhism who guard the cardinal directions. Waddle Dees pose as Oni, which he stands on. Inquire if you'd like to know more... Look at this people! The watercolor and ink combine on the page for a true work of art! Excruciating details ARE excruciating! This took alot of time, concentration, and skill to craft (as do all of my works) but, believe it or not, is not the reason I have been gone for over a month. My old motherboard had been fried by Zen, the intergalactic robot-ninja, and I had to battle the forces of good and evil to enact revenge! Now I have returned to the Rainbow Restort with a head of Zen, and a shiny new Toshiba Sword, forged in Japanese Hell and ready for new art-endeavors. The mailbag after this next one will surely feature me, so Rainbow Resorters, give me all you got! I will cut-down whatever you send with a slice of my pen. Watch your backs! I'm taking requests.11 commentsDedede-Daimyo
Essence_of_Block_Ball_001.jpg
Essence of Block Ball3911 views14th in my "Essence of" series. Though the picture looks like the Classic Kirby we all know and love, Kirby's Block Ball for the GameBoy is anything but the average romp through Dreamland. Instead, this time our hero takes the form of a ball in a tedious game of "Breakout". In said game, one must control the bouncing ball to rid the room occupied by assorted bricks, but only by moving a small panel along the bottom of the screen. The story of KBB, is that King Dedede has built (another?!) castle on top of the Dream-Spring, and the only way Kirby can free it is by breaking all of the bricks that hold the chaos together... or something like that. Like most of the spin-off games, the plot doesn't matter as much as the gameplay. This game was notable for promoting previous common enemies to the position of level boss, all of whom you see here. And, show of hands, who here has ever actually drawn, let alone seen, the infamous pre-ultimate boss, Buu-Robo (top, center)? I thought so :P9 commentsDedede-Daimyo
Dedede-Daimyo_of_Mailbag_Force_001.jpg
Dedede-Daimyo of Mailbag-Force3146 viewsHalf-a-month is too long for me to go without posting art in the gallery for fans of KRR. So, here I present a small token of my selfishness, narcissism, and vanity-- Ok, not really, but close~! As many of you may have known, I am now a semi-regular member of our glorious site's bi-weekly mailbag. Issue 69 featured the start of an awesome comic, known simply as "Mailbag Force". I've thought of continuing the series with each session I partake in, furthering my work-load, yet expanding the comic to a much-looked-forward-to feature. Also, I would perhaps like to work with others on this project...
Anyway, here is my character sheet, displaying the Daimyo's updated design and abilities. >Slash Pen like sword! >Super Daimyo Jump gets the heck outta there! >Kine Hammer pounds foes like mochi! >Kakegoe Inhale strength of lungs! >Chopsticks catch any/everything! >Break for tea~~ >Flap Fans to Flutter! >Power of the immense Ink-Brush! >Frantically build the Terracotta Army! >Last but not least, Essence Ondo Odori~! Primary Colors are sacred. Materials used: India Ink, Sakura Pen, Colored Pencils, Fibracolor Markers, Crappy Crayons.

Kabuki_Kirby~!.jpg
Kabuki Kirby and Co.3482 viewsIt was inevitable~... Who other than I would produce such an impressive work pertaining to the brand-new Kirby of Kabuki ability? Wha-hohoho-no-hoi! Daimyo returns to the Gallery after a well-deserved rest from the 10 Year Anniversary Party-Pic (which is STILL on the front page, thanks!); I plan now to resume submissions of 2-and-3-D artwork on a steady basis. Here-and-now, we see the special, Hoshi no Kaabii 3-D mini-episode, “Take it Down; Demon Beast Ebizou”, (if you haven't seen or heard about it, go to it!) which debuts a new Kirby ability, known as “Kabuki”. Kabuki is a form of traditional Japanese theater, dating back over 400 years; stories center around historical drama, action, and myth; actors are highly stylized, their actions are expressive and exaggerated, and it all has a very distinct appearance that has withstood the test of time. When Kirby acquires the ability, he first appears to take the form of an actual costumed actor- specifically a Yamabushi (mountain-monk). He goes through the classic Mie-poses and Aragoto-movements common to the art, which all turns out to be 'just an act' to distract the enemy. Kirby ultimately attacks by a “Stare of Death”~ launching a blast from his forehead, the enemy is left paralyzed. He finalizes by obliterating the enemy with a long Bo-staff.
Accompanying the picture is the cast of 'Samurai Kirby' and others. I might as well say, that throughout next year, I plan on drawing a traditional manga (or doujinshi) based on the concept and world of this minigame. It will surely be my greatest work~ but a whole lot'a work! As the year closes, I will try to get done with the “Essence of” series of 2D artworks, and paint my final KSSU figure set. And maybe another mailbag. Gotta 'nother Emaki to finish too, shimatta... Also plan to submit a few stories to 'Snaff's new “Pic Fic” brain-child, in due time. This is all just a reminder to myself, for future reference, and a foreshadowing for others. Oh yea, the media used in picture as follows: Outlined in India Ink, Figures colored in Colored Pencil, Background colored in Felt-tip Marker. So, until next time, Bye-cha!

Kine_Dedede_001.jpg
Kine Dededee3057 viewsI am sometimes, the very essence of, mischief, itself~! =D Aiya, it is a little too early for Halloween stuffs, but as I was working on my latest "Essence of" drawing (which should be finished sometime this weekend, hopefully) I realized how closely Kine resembles the King. The colors, mouth, 'googly eyes', and all; if the fish were just a bit more anthropormorphic, a Dedede he could be. Of course, I'm doin' it wrong... but this is just a quickie, so be happy with it :) India-Ink Pen + Colored Pencils used.17 commentsDedede-Daimyo
Essence_of_Star_Stacker_001.jpg
Essence of Star Stacker4073 views15th in my “Essence of” series. This is a combo-picture. Kirby's Star Stacker for the Game Boy and the Japan-only Kirby's Sparkling Kids for Super Famicom were two of the same puzzle games in the series. The goal is to stack falling blocks in sequence, and pin Star-Blocks in-between matching Animal Friend-Blocks, in order to eliminate them, similar to PuyoPuyo and/or Kirby's Avalanch. While you're stacking, the two characters duke-it-out in the center! Both games go by the title “Kaabii no Kirakira Kizzu” in Japan, as the latter is just a suped-up version of the former. The story introduces Mr. Star, who gets shot out of the sky by King Dedede. He lands on Kirby, who agrees to help the star reclaim his scattered pieces, with the help of Rick, Kine, and Coo. Many characters return from other games, to my enjoyment; newly introduced are Tic-Tock Jr., the Queen of Star Stacking, Grill, and her onion-underlings. With all this, Kirby's Sparkling Kids is actually one of my favorites in the whole series (despite the fact that I've never even played it)! Whaha... I will let my art speak for itself~!13 commentsDedede-Daimyo

Kitaro/ Kirby Crossover3941 views{PLEASE READ}
Happy Halloween, Kirby's Rainbow Resort! This year, Daimyo's conjured- up something great for the holiday spooktacular; a “Gegege no Kitaro” & “Hoshi no Kirby” Crossover! But, just what is this Kitaro, you may ask? Gegege no Kitaro (AKA: Kitaro of the Graveyard) is Japan's most famous classical manga about Yokai (mischievous Japanese spirits/ creatures) with an anime spanning nearly 6 whole series (one every decade)! Created in 1959 by Manga-ka, Shigeru Mizuki, it tells the story of a goblin-boy and his bizarre Yokai friends who get into freaky adventures, and meet even creepier characters, all while trying to preserve the peace between the human and Yokai realms. There have even been two movies made of the series to date; yet despite all of this, Gegege no Kitaro remains in Japan, untranslated, while the rest of the world (or, at least the U.S.) misses out, much to my dismay. I love all of the creative and often humorous Yokai-monsters of Japan, and just thought that it would be appropriate (and necessary!) to present the Resort with a little something this Hallow's Eve. So, with that, Have fun finding all the Kirby and Kitaro characters listed here~!
