Chief Borun is seen conducting
traffic- which is an odd thing to do, considering only two
people own cars in the entire country. Even Borun dozes off
from the repetitive task- just in time for Mayor Len and
Dedede to crash their cars into each other at the
intersection. Dedede is furious to find him sleeping on the
job. Later he decides to completely abolish the police force-
meaning Borun will be out of a job.
Bun defends the chief's honor
when the other kids talk about how he'll be fired. Bun tells
them all about how Borun used to be in the Ranger Corps- and
his sister points out that there haven't been wars in
Pupupuland for a long time. But Bun would rather belief the
chief, and talks with the kids about trying to help him out.
Borun's wife Sato tries to
comfort him, as he's done a lot of good for the village.
Suddenly he's called away because of a flock of sheep escaping
through a broken fence. A sudden wave of petty crimes sweep
the village, from Curio's artifacts being covered with
(removable) paint, and Kawasaki's water and gas pipes being
switched. It's Bun's plan to get people to respect him, by
giving Borun tons of work to do.
When Dedede comes to officially
fire Borun, all the villagers get up in arms about it. Bun,
Kirby and the kids watch from a tree, when Kirby decides to
play with a wasp's nest, knocking it onto Escargon's head. He
hits the tree with the jeep in a panic, causing Kirby and Bun
to fall on the jeep as they drive away. Borun takes Len's car,
and he, Fumu, Iroo, Hohhe and Honey chase after. Borun finds
out that the kids were the cause of all the trouble in town.
Bun ends up as the only one on
the jeep after Escargon and Dedede gets knocked off- and he's
unable to stop the keep as it heads up the side of the Kilauea
volcano. The jeep comes to a halt at the edge and appears to
throw Bun down into the lava, but Borun and the others find
him on a precarious ledge. Borun gets a rope and starts
climbing down. The other villagers and Bun's parents also
arrive.
Fumu wants to call the Warp
Star to help, but Meta Knight insists she should leave it to
the chief. Borun reaches Bun and starts climbing back up when
the volcano starts erupting, burning through the rope. Borun
starts climbing up the sheer rock anyway, but his back goes
out. He finally admits to Bun that he lied about being in the
Ranger Corps. They fall, but Fumu calls the Warp Star and
Kirby flies them to safety.
Dedede comes to try firing
Borun again, with an official decree, which Kirby chews up and
spits out. Dedede tries firing on the crowd, but the only
thing that comes out is the wasp nest, and the angry insects
chase Dedede and Escargon away.
