When Escargon takes a picture
of Dedede and sees a ghost in the background he's terrified,
saying there might be a ghost with a grudge against him.
Dedede laughs it off, but he's just as frightened and won't
show it. When he visits Mabel the fortuneteller, she also
tells him there's a grudge-holding ghost in his castle- and it
will appear that night!
He calls her a fraud and
leaves, but as they cross the drawbridge to the castle, it
starts lifting by itself. He also starts hearing from Fumu and
her family that they've seen and heard what they believe is a
ghost! Dedede denies doing anything when they accuse him of
starting up trouble.
He tries calling HNM to get a
demon to get rid of ghosts, but they refuse as he hasn't paid
his bill. The lights in the throne room suddenly go out and he
hears spooky laughter, so he leaves. He hears footsteps behind
him and bumps into Escargon. Dedede tells him they have to
find out who's making the footsteps, but Escargon retreats to
his own room.
Dedede decides to just get some
sleep. But he can't so he decides to play loud music to cheer
himself up. Suddenly the lights go out as a thunder storm
rages outside. The window is flung open and a flock of bats
flies around his room. He hides under his covers, but realized
he can't stay there since he needs to use the restroom. Too
afraid to go himself, he goes back to get Escargon, knocking
his door down and dragging him along to the restroom. After he
finishes, he finds that Escargon has gone missing. He hears
spooky laughter again and runs away in a panic before he sees
three ghosts floating towards him. He runs away, and the
'ghosts' turn out to be Kirby, Lololo and Lalala under sheets,
along with Bun.
Now Fumu, her parents and Meta
Knight have heard Dedede screaming and go to try and find
what's going on. Somehow Dedede has ended up in the dungeon,
chained to a table with a huge blade swinging over him. It's
Bun and the other kids messing with him, flying around as
ghosts and suspended fake skeletons. Dedede finally can't take
it anymore and faints.
Escargon appears and says they
did a good job, rewarding them with candy. Fumu and the other
arrive and demand an explanation. It turns out Dedede is
constantly tormenting Escargon, so he was trying to get even
with him by setting up everything with the ghost, from
doctoring the photo to bribing Mabel. Dedede hears it all and
says he'll forgive him, but when Escargon unlocks the chains
Dedede flies into a rage and chases them through the castle.
When yet another ghost appears,
he assumes it's a trick- until it passes right through him.
The real ghost tells Dedede to pay his bill, and he can't do
it fast enough. The ghost takes the money to the transporter
and Customer Service says it was the only choice they had.
Escargon says it's a victory for them, but Dedede still hasn't
calmed down and attacks them anyway.
