Fumu writes in her notebook on
a hill overlooking the village, and when the other kids ask
what it is she reads them an essay she wrote about Pupu
Village. Some of the villagers show up with big news- Dedede
is giving out televisions to everyone in town! Waddle Doo
directs the Waddle Dees in handing them out, and explains what
they're for.
Dedede begins the broadcast,
talking about the wonders of TV and all the shows and
commercials you can see. His first show features him and a
badly made Kirby puppet, which he makes fun of for only saying
'Poyo'. Fumu and Kirby watch, with Fumu getting angry at
Dedede for making Kirby look bad, but Kirby seems amused
enough by it. Escargon does the weather and introduces their
line-up, all of the shows starring Dedede and parodies of real
shows and movies.
The commercials also feature
Dedede, but everyone's glued to their screens and loving it-
except Fumu. Even her family is watching, and she can't get
them to listen. The final straw comes when she finds Meta
Knight, Sword and Blade watching too. Meta Knight assures her
it's fine, but she points out he's usually not optimistic like
that.
There's a newsflash- a huge
demon beast has been spotted outside the village! A giant
purple slug-like creature appears, roaring Kirby's name. Fumu
rushes outside to warn Kirby- but doesn't see any demon beast.
But it's still there on TV, crushing houses and causing
destruction. Dedede uses the TV to hypnotize the villagers,
saying they have to drive out Kirby to keep the demon beast
away.
Kirby barely escapes a mob of
angry villagers with Fumu's help, and go to his house to find
Tokkori watching TV and rooting on Dedede, who appears to be
fighting the demon beast. Fumu has realized it's all a scam,
and shows him there's nothing outside. Meta Knight says
everyone's being tricked by the TV, and wasn't able to find a
demon beast anywhere. But there is something suspicious going
on in the castle basement.
They go to find Dedede's TV
studio, where Escargon is in a demon beast costume, and they
use a model of the village to make it look like it's being
attacked. Kirby jumps on stage, and the broadcast stops.
Dedede drops a cage on the kids, but Fumu has Kirby inhale,
destroying all the TV equipment. They restart the broadcast to
show everyone Dedede's scam.
The next morning, they still
try to use the TV to make it look like Kirby's on a rampage,
but the villagers aren't buying it and shut off their TVs.
