The episode begins with Dedede
celebrating the 300th anniversary of his rule as the 17,052
king of Pupupuland. But no one shows up at the ceremony,
because no one believes Dedede is the rightful king.
Fumu helps Prof. Curio at a dig
site, while Kirby and Bun mess around. Curio's goal is to
discover more about the ancient tribes of Cappies that used to
live there. Fumu tries to stop her brother from fooling
around, but falls into a pit he dug. She sticks her shovel
down and hits something. She, Bun and Kirby dig up a strange
looking stone object while Curio looks on nervously. It
appears to be a coffin of some sort, and Fumu is thrilled that
they've found evidence of the Cappy civilization and goes to
tell everyone.
The villagers gather to see
what's inside. Dedede shows up, still insisting that it was
his family who's always ruled Pupupuland. He opens the coffin
himself... revealing a skeleton that looks just like him! It
seems that Curio's hypothesis was fault, to the shock of Fumu
and the others. Dedede tells the villagers they can keep
whatever they dig up, and they find lots of Dedede related
artifacts.
Fumu tries to console Curio,
saying it's okay if his hypothesis was false, because he at
least got more people to know about Pupupuland's history.
Curio thanks her and gives her an arrowhead he dug up, telling
her she should head home.
Fumu is still concerned about
the whole issue, and decides to go back to talk to Curio. But
she finds him pulling a cart with a huge object on it to the
dig site. She's shocked to see him putting a statue there, and
takes photos as evidence.
The next day, the town is abuzz
with news of Curio's newest discovery, and everyone gathers at
the site where he's 'found' the same statue she saw him put
there. She confronts him away from the others, asking
why he'd do such a thing and urging him to reveal the truth.
But Dedede and Escargon find out they know too much, and tie
up the kids.
Escargon begins the
presentation where Curio will explain Pupupuland's history.
Curio can't take it any longer, and reveals it's all a scam
and he placed false artifacts there. He had no money to do his
research, and so he helped Dedede in order to get funds.
Meta Knight rescues Kirby and
the others and they confront Dedede. But the stone statue is
more than it seems, and Dedede has it grow into a gigantic
demon beast. Everyone runs for their lives while Dedede chases
on the Dedede Stone. He tries crushing Fumu, who is saved by
Meta Knight. Kirby tries inhaling the statue, but of course
it's too huge. Curio uses his pick-axe to chip off some pieces
of it, which Kirby inhales and becomes Stone Kirby.
Fumu calls the Warp Star, and
Kirby is able to fall right through the Dedede stone in his
own stone form, causing it to crumble into pieces. (Burying
Dedede and Escargon in the process.) Meta Knight remarks on
how strong Kirby is becoming while Kirby and the others head
home- and Dedede and Escargon offer Kirby candy to help dig
them out. Of course he can't resist an offer like that...
