My
incompatability to say 'no' brings this Mailbag edition to 6 people
answering letters this issue! This means you have more to read, but
also means I have more to type up and format! However, as always, the
purpose of the Mailbag is to serve you, the reader. And cynical psychos
like AgentS, of course.
Aipom
is a forum administrator, amongst other things?! She's also a normal
type Pokémon who will appear in Pokémon Diamond and
Pearl. Contrary to popular belief, she does not, in fact, indulge in recreational drugs of any sort, despite the constant maniacal grin and glazed eyes.
Asotoku said the Mailbag can't be done without him, so this came out a day late. Much love. <3
Diddgery, professional bee eater, honeycomb destroyer, and overthrower of bee monarchies, is evidently also somewhat of a de facto Mailbag standard now. He also has a bright future as a entrepreneur in beating up that thing in those Honey Comb commercials (what is that thing, anyways?) and flying jets into anyone who suggests he not become a Mailbag regular.
Disaster
owes me a Pokémon card for being in this Mailbag! He probably
won't send me it, so I'll get it myself one day when I'm 40 years old
and creepy!
Shiro's a good guy, but he leaves this Mailbag mid answering questions, which is--
Also keep in mind that in this
Mailbag edition you were invited to name your favorite Kirby game, as a
sort of theme. I'll be explaining why Dream Land 3 is the best and why
mostly everyone is an idiot as we go along.
-RMD
Xartarin:
I havn't played Kirby's Dreamland 3, but I'm sure it's much better.
Discluding that, my favorite game is Kirby Super Star. When do you
think it will come out for the Virtual Console?
Also, how do you
decide who will be answering mail in the mailbag? Do you just ask
important members on the forums if they want to do it, or do you have
some kind of secret, selective ritual to decide who writes this stuff?
RMD: It is coming out this year. No specific date has been set, though.
And you should go play Dream Land 3 ASAP, young man, lest you miss out
on the best Kirby game that was ever made.
The second part of your letter deals with Classified Information.
Aipom:
I have no idea when it will come out for the virtual console, and I got
chosen to do this particular mailbag because I annoyed the mailbag
regulars until they let me join :]
Disaster: Super Star will come out... eventually. Also, the ritual is so secret, I don't know how some of us even found it.
Shiro:
to answer your first question, i have no idea! i wasn't really "in the
loop" when KDL3 was popular, if it ever was. to answer your second
question, it is a super secret ritual that i cannot let anyone know the
details of. sorry. :(
Diddgery:
Kirby Super Star is a choice I am sure we will see more of, as many
people consider it to be the best Kirby game due to all of the
different stuff inside. Of KSS' games, Milky Way Wishes is my personal
favorite, though Revenge of Meta Knight is also awesome.
And yes we have a secret ritual, the Ordeal of Mailbag. The survival
rate is about 6%, so..most people don't make it out alive. We are the
lucky ones!!
Asotoku: Being of higher importance, I can tell you that the ritual involves a lot of whining, begging, and getting RMD drunk.
RMD: ..Classified Information.
Dasune:
Okay, I'll follow the theme. Uhh, I like Adventure. Good old Kirby when
he used to not wear fashion accessories. Not that they weren't cool,
it's just that it doesn't happen anymore. Hat hat hat hat hat. Dream
Land 3 was great too, with it's stylized graphics and awesome musics.
Should
I ask a question too? Hm.. Okay, if you guys could change something
about Kirby games, what would it be? I don't mean how repetitive and
vapid they are getting, but maybe some small quirk that just wasn't
done right.
Aipom: If I could change one thing about Kirby games, I would make them harder...and put Aipom as a boss in them :]
Diddgery: Adventure
was my first Kirby game (as well as first video game ever) so it holds
a place near and dear to my heart. I didn't like a few of the changes
in Nightmare in Dreamland...mainly due to the lack of the sidescrolling
awesome parts of Butter Building. But to answer your question!! I would
like to see a game that is easy to beat but has things to collect, and
when you collect them all you can get the real ending. Like in KDL2, KDL3, and K64.
RMD: Whoops! Dream Land 3 was more than great, it was perfect.
Mario games be damned, quite a few games made even today-- shut up,
step aside, you're up against a champion here. Dream Land 3's drawing
points are its stylized graphics and epic music, sure, but what gets
you is the atmosphere. The mood. The zeitgeist.
Did Adventure have that? I'm sorry, it didn't! It was just another
standard fare cliché platformer-- sure it introduced the copy
abilities that became a staple in the series, but it's debatably just
an improv on Mega Man. Did you cry out in terror when you saw Dedede?
Even Nightmare?
Don't get me wrong, Adventure is a lovely game and I do adore it, but Kirby's Dream Land 3 grabs it, throws it against a wall, and makes it watch The Joy of Painting reruns. Except it's not The Joy of Painting-- it's An Inconvenient Truth.
Enjoy your Al Gore documentary, Kirby's Adventure!
also i would make a more substantial plot in the kirby games jsyk
Disaster: Game length. Seriously, some of them are just too short. Also...just plain Kirby doesn't have a hat. :(
Asotoku:
Oh, this is a cool question too. Not something stupidly.. stupid. One
that requires thinking. Something I'd change, huh? The difficulty
of the latest games, I suppose. Add the ability to change the
difficulty. I can understand marketing towards younger people, but some
people want a challenge, not just a fancy display of colour.
a pirate kirby would be cool too
Shiro: oh, wow, a real question. i would probably make the games longer, since i always beat most of them within a day. :(
StarRodMan:
Hey, guys...
I recently had three-fiths of my body sliced off in an accident involving lemurs and foot stools.
Is there anything I can do?
Yours truly,
That sorta ok guy from the forums
PS: My favorite Kirby game is Paper Kirby: The Thousand Year Walrus.
RMD: PS: Keep it on the down low, but it's my favorite too!
Aipom: Is there anything you can do? Sure, put the pieces of you that were cut off on ice and then get some super glue :]
Asotoku: gb2/pp/
Diddgery: *Ultros alters his body composition! Use elemental attacks at your own risk!*
Disaster: Those must have been some sharp lemur stools!
Shiro: APPLY STAPLER TO FOREHEAD. REPEAT IF NECESSARY
(''\(.:.....:.)/''):
OOh I just wanted to say that you cam make a kirby like this
<('o')> Ooh and if I have A gamecube, Gameboy Advance And
Nintendo What Kirby game should I get???? OOH do you like bunnies than
you are a good person
RMD: rabbits endulging themselves on a cold spring night
Aipom:
I don't know what Kirby game you should get, read up on the ones
available for your system and see which one you would be most
interested in :]
Shiro: STOP MAKING THAT FACE ADGHDGGGHFFHS
Diddgery:
Best bet for a Kirby game when limited to GBA and GCN would probably be
Amazing Mirror, because it was the one I found the most enjoyable and
challenging. Oh, bunnies. I like bunnies. But I love Shiro more than
bunnies.
Disaster:
I cam? No wai! Also get all of the games. All three of them.
(Unless Nintendo means NES which would make that four!)
Shiro: you have a computer, right? get an emulator :V
daniel:
i like kirby
RMD: How's that treating you, Daniel? The whole being cool thing?
Aipom: Think I won the Powerball.
Diddgery: .....Yeah, so?
Disaster: Good for you! I like proper punctuation! :D
Shiro: what?? what is this kirby you speak of?
Diddgery:
My favorite Kirby game is probably Kirby's Dreamland 3. I love the
scribbly graphic style and the soothing music, and the animal partners
were all awesome. I especially liked how each level had its own special
quest to complete.
Also I bet that this one won't get answered because chances are that I'll be answering the Mailbag again.
RMD: EXCEPT IT IS GETTING ANSWERED, HA HA
Aipom: That was a statement
Asotoku and Shiro, BFF: THAT WAS NOT A QUESTION
Disaster: Looks like you were wrong, Diddgery!
CyberFlame:
... I'm probably one of the least expected to submit one of these. But
after reading the most recent mailbags, I couldn't resist. :D
[1] RMD,
Kirby's Dreamland 3 was mentioned in the parting comments of the last
mailbag. Can you explain to me why, in your opinion, it is "much
better" compared to other games in the series?
[2] It must be
frustrating answering to several of the awkward letters you guys end up
getting sometimes. How do you guys put up with that?
[3] If that "KRR Pokemon Wifi Tournament" ends up happening soon, how big do you guys think it would be?
[4] Finally,
this is a random question, but how are you guys doing with adjusting to
Daylight Savings occurring earlier this year? I need to get used to it
still, especially when it comes to doing my morning routine (I almost
tripped down my stairs this morning, since my house is pitch-black now
when I wake up. :O)
Alright, my letter sucked, and I do realize that. Still, I'm pretty curious how you guys would respond to one of my letters. XD
Aipom:
[1] KDL3 was better then other Kirby games because of the awesome graphics and animal friends :D [2] As for how I put up with answering awkward questions...well, I don't usually, this is my first time answering the mailbag. [3] KRR pokemon WiFi will be big, and I'll be the winner of course, with my faithful Aipom :] [4] And uh, daylights savings time sucks :(
Asotoku:
[2] How do I put up with it? I eat sugar cubes before the mailbag starts. True story. [3] Depends on how many people have less of a life than RMD :( [4] Early Daylight Savings? I'm not in Sweden or wherever you Americans live :(
Diddgery: Hi CyberFlame!! [2] Okay, uh, I put up with dumb letters by either ignoring them or saying something cynical or satirical or just stupid and funny. [3] I hope that the WiFi Tournament turns out rather big. [4] And the Daylight Savings thing....doesn't bother me at all.
Disaster:
[1] RMD just thinks it is, and what he says, goes. [2] We make fun of it. Best way out. [3] BIGGER THAN BIG, TALLER THAN TALL, GIGANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!! [4] I hardly sleep at all, so DST barely affects me!
I've seen worse mail, CF.
Shiro:
[1] my name isn't RMD. >:O [2] as you've seen, we put up with awkward letters by making fun of the senders!! [3&4] ALSO I THINK THE KRR POKEMON WIFI TOURNAMENT SHOULD BE CANCELLED IMMEDIATELY THIS WAS RMD'S IDEA WASN'T IT.
...
it's daylight savings time??
RMD: I edited your post and replies for easier reading, just so you know ahead of time! Anyways!
[1] I
compared KDL3 to KA with fanboyish hyperboles and absurdism a few
letters back. That response can be generalized to render KDL3 superior
to maybe everything except Kirra Kizzu. But, KSS is a contender too
because of plot. But it is still my feeling that the things in KDL3
that were unsaid, but still presented, were better (if unintentionally)
crafted than it was in KSS. [2] How does the Speaker of the House deal with the whole "I'm Nancy Pelosi" thing? I don't know, it's difficult. [3] BIG ENOUGH FOR MY EMPOLEON TO TAKE HOSTAGES [4] This is why we should answer Mailbag more frequently, I guess. Wasn't the DST thing a few weeks ago?
kink-link5:
The Metallic enemy in kirby squeak squad is called Metalum, as evident
by the fact there is a Big Metalum and the not-so reliable Wikipedia. I
will attempt to find more sources and inform you if I find any other
things about him.
Shiro: ... . thanks?
Aipom: Okay...cool?
Asotoku: There's a metallic enemy?
Disaster: Don't we already know this? :/
RMD: Well I found it interesting, anyways!
antelopez:
This being my first interaction with you all, it becomes a matter of
utmost importance to introduce myself. I am a teacher and
student. I am currently doing my diploma project with Politecnica de
Madrid, working on their color and trim. This includes giving context
to color of their exterior and interior story language. Starting with
the consumer segment and wrapping the project with two vehicles with
definite color stories aiming at two broad consumer categories. I wish
to pursue color in future too, and that's where my interest lies as
well. My first job after college was as a math and computer science
teacher for La Salle High School in Madrid. I quickly turned over the
entire computer science program upgrading it from PASCAL and Word
Perfect for DOS courses to C , Visual Basic, and Microsoft Office. I
still joke about tearing off all the cheat sheets taped on the
keyboards above the function keys to get people to start using Word and
Windows. A programmer or software developer is someone who programs
computers, that is, one who writes computer software. The term computer
programmer can refer to a specialist in one area of computer
programming or to a generalist who writes code for many kinds of
software. One who practices or professes a formal approach to
programming may also be known as a programmer analyst, software
engineer, computer scientist, or software analyst. A programmer's
primary computer language (Java, C , etc.) is often prefixed to the
above titles, and those who work in a web environment often prefix
their titles with web. Those proficient in computer programming skills
may become famous, though this regard is normally limited to software
engineering circles. Many of the most notable programmers are often
labeled hackers. Programmers often have or project an image of
individualist geekdom, resistance to "suits" (referring to both
business suits literally and figuratively to the "Establishment"),
controls, and unionization. Ada Lovelace is popularly credited as
history's first programmer. She was the first to express an algorithm
intended for implementation on a computer, Charles Babbage's analytical
engine, in October 1842. Now, apart from my studies and work, I design
some websites called boxbcn, quite interesting but only if you have
some need about it. Anothe one is about flats pisobcn, topic very
important in my city. That's all, just some nonsenses. Maybe they are
not very good, but I just wanted to show it to you. Hoping a very
insightful interaction with all of you.
Asotoku: you go girl Aipom: Does not compute :(
Diddgery: This. Is. A. Kirby. FANSITE.
Disaster: 404 I Don't Care
Shiro: you just overloaded my brain cell.
RMD:
I have to admit I recognized all of the names and titles you referred
to, but I am somewhat hard pressed to try to explain and understand
their respective significances. And what does this have to do with
Kirby? I'm not sure.
Toransure-shon Kirby:
I enjoy mailbag very!
We would like to write on the help of the people whom as for me it cannot read the Japanese, it is poor have been troubled.
As for the prose whose RMD is beautiful with English, it must be shared!
As for your my translation there is here:
The green rich ground, Shine New district where the central mountain range is impressive!
Gathering Pokemon which lives in this district, the fact that you make the Pokemon Zoo can complete, is another purpose!
The escalator to the well-known Pokemon Center underground first!?
The escalator to the underground first!??
The escalator to the underground first!???
The escalator to the underground first!!!!!!!!!
Aipom: Get grammar and come back to me
Asotoku:
Maintaining it is a history, all about the way in which my life obtained reversed - turned with back, and I would like to take one minute, rests me there right good, I will say to you that the howI went well to the prince of a city called Caractère of call-Beautiful-Air
Diddgery: Entire right will gush out itself, uncle Ulty IT IS ACTUAL! ! We want to make the image of portrait!
Disaster: I enjoy mailbag also very! Translation of beautiful English RMD's unecessary joke was as is it
RMD: HOW DO I ナゾナゾ????
Space Yoshi X:
Kirby 64 is my favorite. Why? Its got the badass ability mixing and
crystal shard finding fun. And the mini games, can't forget those.
Also, have any of you completed the enemy card collection?
RMD: Yes.
And you're crazy for liking K64 the most.
Aipom: No.
Asotoku:
What enemy card collection? In Kirby 64, you mean? I only played it
liked twice. In McDonalds. They have it there for some reason. Along
with Banjo Tooie, which is much more worth the time.
Diddgery: No.
Disaster: Yes, yes I have. The mini-games kinda suck though.
vinnyboy:
My favorite Kirby game is Kirby 64 because I love combos, and the
cutscenes and the music are unique and excellent. I deserve to play it
in a long time. Any favorite moments in Kirby 64?
Aipom:
I don't have a favorite moment, but the most disturbing moment is when
King Dedede is possessed by Dark Matter. The eye on his stomach
really...freaked me out...
RMD:
Wasn't that in KDL3? That was my favorite part of KDL3. They stole it
for K64? I don't remember that, but I don't want to check because I'll
be mad if it's true.
Favourite part of K64 is probably the mall store thing on Shiver Star. Lost Earth? Clever!
Diddgery: Ribbon's plethora of panty shots.
HA HA! I kid.
Disaster: The ending. Because it's finally over.
dakirbydude:
About your saying in mailbag 34 that classic Kirby games are better, I
completely agree. My personal favorite Kirby games ever would be Kirby
Super Star and Kirby's Dreamland 3. I also have other favorites, but
those are the two best by far.
Unfortunately, most of the newer
games haven't been worth it. I'd say the only good newer Kirby game
that was fon for a long period of time would be Kirby Air Ride. Other
than that I haven't been impressed with new Kirby games as a whole.
The
recent kirby games start out a lot of fun and then fall apart once you
beat the game. I don't like games like that because they aren't much
worth playing after you beat them.
It's nice to see that other people actually care about the classic Kirby games because at times it seems like nobody does.
Also
regarding issue 34's comment about kirby being in New Super Mario Bros,
I learned that you do get to fight kirby after you kill 34234234089234
goombas. :P
Diddgery: Okay, cool. You're cool. That's cool.
Aipom: So uh...where is the question :[
RMD: Oh.
Asotoku: oh i played kriby super star once
Disaster: HAL is getting lazy, like every other company out there. It's a sad thing, really.
Akruru:
Which style of "multiple fast minigames mashed into an a full game" do you prefer? WarioWare Inc or Rhythm Tengoku?
And
uh incase I'll get shot for not contributing to the "theme" and not
saying my favorite Kirby game, I guess it'd be Kirby's Dream Land 3. Or
something. Aipom: WarioWare Inc
Asotoku: WarioWare
Diddgery:
WarioWare Inc., if only because I have never heard of the other one.
Though to be honest I was a bit dissapointed by WarioWare: Smooth
Moves!, if only because its multiplayer was lacking and it was
noticeably shorter than the rest of the WarioWare games...still fun,
though.
Disaster: Wario is awesome. Therefore, WarioWare is awesome. Is that so hard to understand?!
RMD: Well I'm sure not going to break a combo. WarioWare, though it's a preference,
and because I haven't played the other. I don't really like the 'bunch
of minigames = game' genre, but I don't hate it, either.
Bucky Katt:
Can you kick Diddgery out? He's annoying.
RMD:
You have no soul, Bucky Katt. You will also not be allowed to this
mailbag ever again. And I'll be able to know if you wrote to this
mailbag, Bucky Katt. I have my ways. Yeah, that's right. And you don't.
You suck.
I said it. What now?
If Bucky Katt sends a letter to the KRR Mailbag next issue, there is
gonna be some serious business up in mailbag36.html, if you know what I
mean. Bucky Katt better not send no more junk our way, or else imma
send junk some Bucky Katt, if you know how gangsters talk and could
understand my fly gangster talk.
No more letters, Bucky Katt. I mean it.
Asotoku: Can we kick Bucket Cat out? He's annoying.
Aipom: See Asotoku's reply
Diddgery:
Disaster: I'll kick you. >:(
RMD: I am serious, Bucky. Don't cross me. I'll get you. Like a jaguar. Fast. And hard.
Dreamcat:
My favorite Kirby game is Kirby Super Star, but knowing you'd flame me
rather badly and proclaim that KDL3 is better, I'll just say that I
agree with you - yes, Kirby's Dreamland 3 is the best game.
Have a nice day. :D
Aipom: Uhm, okay. I wouldn't flame you though, everyone is entitled to their own opinion :]
Asotoku: No, Super Star is better.
Diddgery: That's a flat-out lie. We have yet to flame anyone!! Sort of. Kind of.
RMD: Not really, Diggerdy, because I totally just provoked Bucky Katt.
ALSO DEAR DREAMCAT: YOU'RE A DUMB LOSER AND A FAILURE AT LIFE WITH BAD OPINIONS.
Though Bucky Katt has the worst opinions of all.
Disaster: What is with you people and the no questions?
not dragon phoenix no way:
how do i shot web????????????????????
ps my favourite kirby game
is dreamland 2 but there is a glitch when i press the b button kirby
eats his enemies!!!!!  how do i fix this??/
RMD: Don't let Bucky @#$%!+& Katt play your Game Boy.
Aipom: How I mine 4 fish???????????
Asotoku: How I cook iron ore????????
Disaster: rtfm :|
Micue Kirby:
Kirby's Super Star kicks butt, 'cause you can be teh wheelie dude and
run people over while the biker shoots stars of death at them and laugh
insanely. >D BWAHAHAHA....*cough*
Anyways, here's my question; How would you respond to someone if they said "Dedede pwns Kirby"? Would you..
A.) Slap them
B.) Agree with them
C.) Eat their face
D.) Ignore them
E.) (Insert what you would rather do)
My choise would be C, but who cares anyhoo.
RMD: E: CHALLENGE BUCKY KATT TO A RAP BATTLE
Aipom: C, I like to eat faces :]
Asotoku: E. I'd eat the rest of them too. Why waste good food?
Diddgery: Wheelie Bike is fun, especially with two players!! My answer to your question is E.
Disaster: A. And then maybe C.
I H8 Bucky Katt Corner:
Aipom: Aipom is the best pokemon ever, if you don't think so, you're WRONG!!
Asotoku:
Buckets of Cats were not harmed in the making of this mailbag. I speak
for both myself and Shiro when I say this. God knows where he went.
Diddgery: BUCKY KATT!!! I WILL DEFEAT YOU IN COMBAT!!! WE SHALL DUEL!!
Disaster: Where were the questions
BUCKY KATT IS @#$*%^& TROUBLE
The next Mailbag is scheduled for the start of April, as we try to
start a bi-weekly or even less sort of schedule. The response to a
themed mailbag was overwhelming, but this edition will be ...you'll see.
If you do want a chance to write to the Mailbag but don't know what
exactly to write about, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl are coming out
soon: are you excited? (A lot of Kirby fans are also Pokémon
fans, as it were; myself included!)
