This is the moment that my destiny shall be
fulfilled. All this planning, fighting, victories, defeats,
they all lead to this. This is the ending point of my
journey, the most important point of my life. And for that,
I must make sure it is perfect. Okay, focus on this. When
this fight starts, I'll be on one of two positions: Attack
or defend. I'll start by hitting Kirby immediately so I can
be on the attack, and he'll be on the defend. One mistake,
and I'll have to defend and wait for an opening to get on
the attack side again. Alright, let's begin.
"One!" yelled Meta-Knight. Kirby got in a fighting stance
with the sword ready to hit his foe. "Two!" he screamed
again. Now they both prepared to attack. "Three!" The final
number had been called. There was no turning back now. Fate
could no longer interfere with the actions of which they
were to partake, for this battle of good and evil was fate.
And no matter the size of weapon, or strength of mind, no
living being can ever go against fate.
"FIGHT!!!!!" echoed the metallic warrior, louder than he had
ever spoken before in his entire life. And with than one,
five letter word, the battle that would determine the future
of the entire universe, had begun.
Kirby and Meta-Knight lunged toward each other at almost the
same time, but Meta-Knight was a fraction of a second
faster, and slashed Kirby square in the face, adding
another, oddly deeper, scar. But the pink hero retaliated
quickly and knocked Meta-Knight away from him. He ran in and
started a frenzy of lightning-fast slashes and cuts.
Although, in between one of them, the trained swordsman
teleported in a poof of smoke, appearing directly behind
Kirby. He summoned up all his energy and transferred it into
his mighty blade. Then he hit Kirby on the back, hard. He
dug into his flesh, deeper, deeper. The puffball lost
energy, hope, and pride, but somehow, out of a miracle of
the power of good was able to gather just enough strength to
do something that would affect the history of all that
existed.
It was at that very moment that Kirby finally knew that he
was a hero. Sure, thousands of people had praised him as the
hero of Dreamland, but never had he ever felt like he truly
would make a difference for the better, until now. The newly
energized Kirby reached behind his back and yanked out the
enemy's sword. He grabbed it, turned around, and shoved it
into Meta-Knight's chest. As further proof that he was
powered up, the sword went all the way through his
cold-hearted, metallic body. Meta-Knight looked down at the
blade and had a flashback of his past that he never knew
happened.
"Honey?" Meta-Knights pregnant mother gently shook him
awake. "It's time to get up."
"Huh?" groaned the young Dreamlander. He got up and looked
in the mirror, as he did every morning. He looked the same
as he always did. Bright, pink, skin. Blue, radiant, eyes.
His mother always told him he had his father's eyes. Of
course, he had never seen his father. He had died while
fighting in a war against Dark Matter's servants while he
was still inside of his mother.
"It's going to be a fun day for us, Kirby," his mother said.
"I thought we could go to the park and have a picnic."
Kirby? What kind of name is Kirby? The soon-to-be
Meta-Knight always hated that named. It sound girlish. He
always wanted a manly name like Meta or something.
"Sounds fun mom," 'Kirby' said. He looked at his clock.
11:44. Wow, he slept in. "Are we going soon?"
"Well, I hope so," his mom responded, "but if you're too
tired..."
"No, now sounds good. I'll get ready."
"That's nice. I'll meet you downstairs in ten minutes," she
said and left the room. Even though she gave him a girl's
name, and treated him like a baby, 'Kirby' loved his mom.
She had always treated him nicely, and had never yelled at
him, no matter what he had done. Of course he stilled was
punished, but never yelled at. He received calm, quiet
lectures. In fact, his mother was almost always happy. She
didn't like to show her true feelings in front of her son.
But 'Kirby' knew that deep down inside, she felt miserable,
lonely and sad. One night, he snuck downstairs for a glass
of water, and saw he crying while staring at the only
picture of his father they had. But he always pretended that
that never happened.
Kirby got ready and was soon heading to the park with his
mom. They strolled peacefully and enjoyed the sights. There
was no rush. Eventually they sat down to eat the delicious
peanut butter and jelly sandwiches his mom made. While Kirby
was eating seconds, something horrible would happen that
would change his, and everyone else's, lives forever.
The sky got dark, and started raining. Kirby and his mom
decided to pack up and head for home. But without warning,
and unknown force stopped the two dead in their tracks. Up
in the sky, a humongous eye appeared, and floated down as a
large, pitch black ball. Dark Matter. The evil blob laughed
and started to absorb all Dreamlanders in sight. The thought
of his mother being consumed by a giant, ugly, eye gave new
strength to Kirby. He was suddenly able to move, and, step
by step, he walked toward the black orb.
"Leave us alone!" he yelled. This got Dark Matter's
attention.
"What?!?!" screamed the blob. "A mere child able to resist
the forces of my destruction? Could he be...the legendary
knight?"
"What are you talking about?" Kirby questioned, "My name is
Kirby, and I'm not a knight you jerk!"
"Ah...but you are...you just don't know it yet. You are to
join me in my mission to consume all creatures and absorb
all their powers."
"Never!" exclaimed Kirby, "You're just an evil, ugly, ball!"
"Well...Kirby, you said? I may be an evil, ugly, ball, but I
don't see anything that can stop me, except you. That's why
I'm going to brainwash you into joining my side. Yes...I'll
look deep into your heart and find you a suitable name...Ah,
I see you wish to be called Meta. Well, how about
Meta-Knight? That's a pretty self-explanatory name. Except
the Meta part. Hmmm...meta, metal, meta, metal. I've got it.
Here you go." Dark Matter 'tossed' Kirby a blue cape and a
metal mask. "Try them on."
"No!"
"I said...TRY THEM ON!!!" Kirby suddenly was absorbed into
Dark Matter, and when he was spat out, he was no longer
Kirby. He had blue skin and pitch black eyes.
"Yes sir." said the newly formed Meta-Knight as he put the
cape and mask on.
"Good..." praised Dark Matter, "Now, come with me, so that
we can begin your training as a warrior. Trust me,
Meta-Knight you will return here someday, to fight and
destroy your baby brother, once he's born. They will name
him Kirby. What do you think about that name, Meta-Knight?"
"I think it is girlish and not suitable for a warrior who
will fight...and lose...to me."
"Very good Meta-Knight. Well, I hate to leave so soon, but
we've got a lot of training to do. Toodle loo!"
The two flew away into space, not to be seen again until the
next Kirby was born, his mother was dead, and Dark Matter
had forgotten all he had done via amnesia, resulting in him
falling under the rank of Meta-Knight. Dark Matter had
received amnesia before all Meta-Knight's training was
complete, which was the result of him losing a certain
battle to a certain baby brother of his.

Kirby watched Meta-Knight as he stared down at the sword
shoved inside of his chest. Why...why
didn't they tell me...? Why...?
A single tear fell from Meta-Knight's lifeless eyes. This is
the first time he had cried in a long time. The last time
was when he sat on the steps on his old house, and watched
his mother sob all over the picture of his father, of whom
he had never known.
"Goodbye, little brother..." Another droplet of liquid
dropped from Meta-Knights face. "Goodbye..."
