Yet another Cancellation; No Kirby Title for Wii
It only slightly pains me to report that recent news brought to my attention suggests that the E3 2005 pictures first suggesting a Gamecube title, later tentatively turned to Wii, has probably been trashed. Even Nintendo officials, as reported by Go Nintendo, say that there is no longer anything in development.

"There are no plans right now for a Kirby game on Wii but there are plenty of Kirby fans out there, so in the meantime look out for Kirby in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl which will be released in 2008."

Quite honestly, after three years this comes as little surprise to any of us here. The video we were supplied with showed definite potential, but it seems that was just never to be. It is curious to wonder what exactly lead to the fall of the game, especially in the eyes of HAL Labs.

Now all we know for certain is that the tentative Kirby Ultra Star is being made for DS, with a minimal chance of having any new content at all, and another strange thought as to the motivation behind it. However, if I may quote something a bit old but still valid; it is another curious thought to wonder if HAL is really behind that too.

Aw, man! I`m really disappointed about that! Oh well... at least Kirby Ultra Star Deluxe hasn't been scrapped yet!

DANG IT!I KNEW IT!I KNEW IT! CRUD! This is such awful news. Kirby's Ultra star better be good, or else...
And if there is kirby game for the Wii, it better not be Kirby tilt and tumble, Or else i'm gonna kill someone. ( I unfortunately think it will be... it happened with Kirby's air ride!:( )

WHAT OMG OMG I WANTED THIS GAME SO BADLY

Hmm...interesting. So Tose been doing some behind the scenes work eh? I hope Hal comes to its senses and revitalize Kirby; he's just as deserving of a Nintendo mascot as Mario, Link, and Samus are. Hey, if they could revitalize Mario platforming with Galaxy, then surely Hal can pull together and make a Kirby game (in the future) that will absolve the series right?
Posted by Sparx401 on 6:47pm December 17th, 2007
I am mad as fire right now. I'll admit it, I have no life - I cried. But the last thing I want right now is Kirby's Ultra Super Whatever. I can play it on my SNES without blowing 50 bucka.

...HAL, how could you?...
Posted by Alice2 on 6:54pm December 17th, 2007
well at least we have ultra star...
Posted by JirachiGirl7 on 8:06pm December 17th, 2007
Dear god...why...why does Kirby always get the short end of the stick!?

He only has Air Ride on the Cube and no adventure game and now on the Wii he isn't gonna get one at all!? Kirby deserves so much better. ;-;

Aww... Bummer!
Posted by Noodle Soup on 8:44am December 18th, 2007
Well, apparently Kirby isn't 'casual' enough to get his own game...
But who needs Kirby as long as we can play high-quality stuff like EA Playground, Wii Sports, etc.? -.-
Posted by Tingle on 8:53am December 18th, 2007
I find it unlikely that tilt n tumble 2 would be made for Wii. Though I for one, would love it if that would happen. It seems that I'm one of the very select few who liked Tilt n Tumble.

Escargoon does not own the Wii (nor does he want one), but sympathizes with those who looked forward to this game. Escargoon was extremely excited when it was first, originally anounced for GCN. The cancelling of it saddens Escargoon, as Kirby, as posted early, always does get the short end of the stick. Kirby needs a wonderful, innovative game. Escargoon suggests transferring Kirby 64 to the Nintendo DS.

...Well, this ruins my YEAR...

Why could they do this? Is HAL just being lazy or something? What were they doing for the past 2 years? It was a REALLY anticipated game for me, and now it's gone. Kirby Ultra Star better make up for it.
Posted by Torkirby on 5:20pm December 18th, 2007
Aww, Man! Poor Kirby, I always do is I wish, at least I always believe for Nintendo.
Posted by Shawne Vinson on 7:34pm December 18th, 2007
I hope to god this isn't true. But it is quite curious that nothing has been shown of the game since 2005, and that two Kirby games were announced and one has been released since then.
Posted by guy on 12:08am December 19th, 2007
On the other hand, the source is apparently from ONM, which I don't think is very reliable.
Posted by guy on 12:10am December 19th, 2007
Since it's Nintendo of Europe, I wouldn't starting getting worried yet. Not that I think low of NoE, but it's NoE and not Nintendo of Japan. I've seen cases before where one regional branch feigns (or truly has) ignorance about something another branch is doing.

The Wii Kirby is listed as the 5th most anticipated game in the January issue of Famitsu's DS Plus Wii magazine, so I wouldn't write it off just yet.

wait...WHAT!?!?
NOOOO!! I wanted this soo badly!!!
I Don't want a remake!! I want a new game!!! ;-; why does this happen to Kirby?? seriously he IS the most overlooked Nintend mascot...a spinoff on the GC...and NOTHING on the Wii?!? Come on!! poor puff ball...

...Well that blows! >:(
Posted by SmashKirby202 on 8:27am December 19th, 2007
Even though I believe it isn't going to come out now, I still believe that nother game will come along, and maybe it will be resumed. You just never know.
Posted by Prince Flarema on 8:34am December 19th, 2007
Well... be possitive kids... someday a kirby game for the wii will be realised (I think). I do not want more of those remakes... Is Hal Lab with a crisis of poor imagination that is making lot of the games with a basis on the old ones? I was planning to buy a wii for Christmas... because I thought that Hal's next project would be kirby wii for (afer SSBB). Now I do not know what to do....
Posted by Sir kirby on 10:01am December 19th, 2007
Oh my God this seriously sucks. I don'tsee why they would cancel a game that so many people wanted so badly. Hal better make at least double the content in Kirby ultra star now.
Posted by Archenyte on 1:19pm December 19th, 2007
...'Tis the way of the game industry. This really is no surprise at all to me... A few screenshots, a trailer, then... nothing. More likely than not, HAL just cut funding to it and hoped fans would forget about it- it's not like every game is Duke Nukem Forever. For those surprised at this, let this be a lesson to you about the game industry- when you're shown screenshots of a game at an early stage, don't be surprised when it doesn't come to completion... be surprised when it does.
Posted by Hyarion on 1:37pm December 19th, 2007
Way to disappoint us AGAIN, HAL.

Kirby.. You deserve more than a remake.
Posted by rainbowkirby on 3:15pm December 19th, 2007
What a shame. I hope this is only the dark age of Kirby (similar to Metroid and the N64) and not the near-death...

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
That game looked so cool!
I was looking forward to it for years!
I wanted that game so bad!

They should make a 3D Kirby Platformer game for Gamecube.
That would be awesome!
Posted by Omochao on 10:13am December 20th, 2007
Kirby always gets the bad end of the deal, apparently.
Posted by Kosaku on 2:46pm December 20th, 2007
Aww, I was about to get those hands on this game until now. That sucks to hear though. Oh well, at least I'm getting the hands on the next games. =)
Posted by Girla PurpleHeart on 3:55pm December 20th, 2007
Give us a break Hal! All we've had for years are remakes and spin offs it feels like! When am I gonna be able to get something new?! I'm getting tired oc Crystal Shars here! It's the last platform adventure we had! D: Is... is Kirby dying?! OH HECK NO.
Posted by Netbug on 8:09pm December 20th, 2007
Hal is one heck of a lazy company. Honestly, Kirby is really their only running franchise right now, and all they can manage is a remake?

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ME WANT WII GAME RAAAAAAAAW
Posted by kirby k on 1:23pm December 21st, 2007
Well, judging by the source of the comment, I wouldn't be too worried. Hal isn't completely stupid. If a kirby game was actually anticipated for once, they should know to keep working on it. Though they are pretty stupid for stalling on the gamecube project to make Squeak Squad. Squeak Squad (as many people will agree) was not all that great. I was really looking forward to that gamecube game. I don't know if people noticed, but the Tornado Helper in the E3 video during the Mecha Dedede scene, I'm pretty sure was one of the Kirby 64 fairies. Take a second look.

Woa... I did checked out the Tose article I was surprised.
Sadly Kirby was cancelled. I've asked about 3D games of Kirby for consoles. And one friend who had GCN told me it doesn't exit any. That was sad. Because it can be the only chance to see him and make people (probably) less bored.
Now I'm continuing read the article I did mention before. It's very interesting. THANK YOU!
Posted by Aiky on 11:25pm December 23rd, 2007
The game was really in a bad position, it first had to be ported to Wii, then HAL got involved with Sakurai and the rest with Super Smash Bros. Brawl, you should be happy they had Flagship make things like Squeak Squad to hold us off. This is assuming that the magazine is even trustable.

I just can't stop being depressed over this news, but for me, I don't have the original super star, so I'm actually looking forward to this. But why did Hal have to delete the game. Well, I will stick to my last comment, and keep believing that another kirby game for Wii will come. But for now, I'm sad.

Well, Merry Christmas Kirby Rainbow Resorters.

Prince Flarema

P.S. What really makes me depressed is that Super Smash Brothers Brawl has been delayed. Now there will be no ultimate Christmas present this year........

I'm glad it might be coming out for DS rather than Wii. I don't have a Wii but I have a DS.

I was worried about Kirby Wii's cancelation ... until I found out it was by Nintendo of Europe, the same exact people who said Sonic's Brawl confirmation "was not in the cards." I'm still hoping they come out with one.

Also, Tose seems pretty secretive ... making ANY type of game ...

People, Kirby Wii wasn't cancelled. NoE is wrong about everything. Hell, they even doubted that the DS Lite existed until NoA revealed it. According to the sales data of September 2007, Kirby Wii is still being made, but is so far only going to be released in Japan.

Well now they had a good reason for keeping Sonic under wraps, but I am from Eaurope and I can confirm that NoE are not always on the money with their facts.
I won't hold out a lot of hope, but this was a game I was looking forward to.
