Grabbing the beam ability in the beginning, will allow you to easily grab the 1-up behind the bomb blocks. The first door you come to, will grant you the sword ability if you want it, and a maxim tomato. If you pass the second door and fly up, a Gordo can be found guarding a tomato and another 1-up.

Heading up and to the left, you can find some hyper candy sandwiched between the two Lovely flowers. Grabbing the crash ability from Bomber before you head down to face Chef Kawasaki, can make it a very short fight.
