Ask Guru Gobbo #85Nothing skipped; I just didn't get enough good Q's to pad out the ranks. Shocking, know? - November 16th, 2008 I know, I know, I talk about the miniboss contest waaaay too much, but I made a video for my miniboss, Tear. It's in my gallery in the Fan Art section. Could you do me a favor and put a link to the video on Tear's entry? Anyways... 1. Which theme in your opinion worked better, the color changing Kirby depending on the ability, or the color changing Kirby depending on the unlocked spray paints. I think it's spray paints. By far. 2. Nova, a giant wish granting mechanical mechanism is... what? Did someone build him? Is he some ancient relic formed since the beginning of time? Is he a mass of intergalactic trash that build up to create a magic machine? 3. Why does Kirby need Adeliene, and Waddle Dee in Kirby and the Crystal shards. The game could easily work just as well without Adeliene or Waddle Dee. 4. Okay, a CRRAAAZY rumor I heard. You can go to the moon during city trial in air ride? Naaaaw! I've relized I use "..." too much. I should really stop. I think I've used "..." in nearly every one of my posts. Oh well... Oops. - Theorizer 1) Of course the spray paint was better. It allowed more control over what Kirby looked like. After all, let's face it, sometimes the tone changed to wasn't agreeable, and being able to pick your own color matching is a lot more favorable. 2) NOVA is never really explained. Really, were you expecting something else? No one is explained ever. It's assumed he's some sort of ancient construct, near a timeless deity of sorts. He does possess amazing powers, such as wish granting and time bending capabilities, so he's a bit more than just a machine. 3) Adeleine and Waddle Dee offer assistance. Sure, there could be no one there to draw you a Maxim Tomato or round up a toboggan ride, but what fun would that be? Also, they wanted to establish more characters for the multiplayer minigames. Beyond that, preliminary screenshots showed that the three additional characters were all suppose to be plain ol' playable in the regular game. It's like in Dream Land 3 and even Super Star. The other playable characters and helpers are entirely not Kirby. They do everything differently. So, rather than having an exact Kirby copy like in Amazing Mirror, it was... different. That's why they were in the game: for innovation and originality. 4) I can't seem to find anything about it. No mentions of moon ever come in any FAQ or guide. Of course, it could just a short cut of sorts and not merit mention anywhere. I don't have the game and have never even played it, so I can't offer any insight from experience. Hi, me again. 1]When i was playing kirby and the amazing mirror, the wierd rock guys called golems gave me 3 different abilities! one gave me stone, one gave me fighter and another one gave me wheel. Do you know how??? 2]In kirby squeak squad, is the triple star another planet in kirbys universes star rod, cuz in another session you said it was quite possible that all the planets in this universe had a star rod. And it does the same thing [shooting out stars]. 3]Is kirby 64 based on the dreamland series? Cuz the gameplay is quite similar [not counting animal friends]. - Cheesy 1) Yes, it is well established that Golem offers three abilities. The power given is linked to the behavior displayed, which I'm pretty sure is linked to its color. Jumping and crashing down gives Stone, rolling gives Wheel, and the punching has Fighter. 2) You're overlooking a big, big "if" in all of this. First, I just said it was possible that they could have it, not that they did, but, aside from that, it's the star shaped tip that is the star piece. Triple Star, now, just has a block. There's no chuck o' star sitting on the wand. It looks kinda wooden, actually. Whether or not it isn't some sort of relic from another world of any degree of power, no one knows, but it certainly isn't a Star Rod. 3) Yes, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards has more in common with Dream Land 2 & 3 than the other games in the series. They were all directed by Shinichi Shimomura. These three games are commonly grouped in a series because of their similarities. Hey. Have they ever been a power that Kirby could use but was taken out before the game was in stores? - Cool One There is the well known case of Block in Squeak Squad, which, really, is just an old version of Triple Star. There were speculations that Mini was suppose to be in Adventure due to some small Kirby sprites, but, given their animation and frames, it appeared more like a defunct map walking animation. Outside of that, there are no known canceled abilities. I want to know how Dark Matter intended on stealing the crystal in Crystal Shards in the first place. If they are supposedly weak to it's power, how could they have stolen it? Wouldn't touching it have killed them? How is it that DeDeDe can jump so high if he weighs so much? Wouldn't gravity kinda... work against him? Do you think Metaknight was truly evil in Revenge of Metaknight or is he just the kind of guy who doesn't like to have the advantage in a fight? I mean even when he's gone completely whacko, he still offers Kirby a sword to fight him with. And the title of the game makes no sense. What would he be getting revenge for anyway? Did he suffer an embarassing situation in Dream Land? Welp, glad to see you're doing better. Hope the recovery is coming along good. - Leint 1) Galaxia was a holy sword that would spell defeat for Nightmare, so what did he do? Secured it and kept it out of the hands of his opposition. You keep your friends close and your enemies closer, in a way. If you have a weakness, just a slight thing that could spoil your plans, keep anyone from getting it. He didn't want the crystals for himself. He just wanted no one else to use it against him. 2) King Dedede jumps so high because he can jump so high. Beings shoot fire, generate electricity, house powerful vacuums, and, well, jump high. That's exactly what Jumpin' Dan the Starman does. One of King Dedede's feats is that he can jump high. It's not like the entire concept of mass and momentum carry any meaning in the world of Kirby. After all, the star of the series sucks in air to float, meaning his weight is lighter than the atmosphere itself. But, what happens when he's carrying a big ol' hammer? Still flies. What about all those things he's been eating? All those any-time-of-the-day snacks aren't holding him down at all. 3) I don't think Meta Knight was bad in Revenge of Meta Knight; I know it. The haunting music, the busting out of batwings, the overwhelmingly dark theme of the sub-game. Yeah, there's no doubt that Meta Knight was working a full shift on the dark side. Now, I say this because it was the only option at the time. Meta Knight is bad, or at least was. This was before the animated series, before he saved the day or any of those other character assassinations. Up at this point he was just a trusted friend of Dedede in Adventure to a militant dictator on the rise in Super Star. No mentoring, no "Star Warrior", no doing good. He was riding the fast track to Villain Ville, population him. I always say that people try to retcon and explain his actions nowadays, but their judgment is skewed by what was introduced in later titles. That's not applicable, or, at least, if it were, it's still a retroactive continuity change on the game makers' parts. Which, yeah, it really is. Now, just because you are bad doesn't mean you can't be proper. The offering of the sword is basic chivalry. Just look at several Bond villains and other high caliber villains. Sure, their enemies of the hero, but they sit down to a fancy dinner to discuss things like civilized people. They're not savages, after all. As for the whole "Revenge" thing, there isn't really an event or person he's avenging. It's to be taken more as "strikes back", striking out against the wrongs he sees in his land of origin. It's sorta a case of necessary evil or the well intentioned extremist. It's not really either of these cases but falls along similar lines, I'd say. Change is needed, and he will cause it. Consequences be damned. And, what do you mean I linked to a much less appropriate article in TV Tropes first just to push the Serenity quote I was looking for? That's crazy talk is what that is. Crazy. ... I have dinosaurs in my cockpit. 'Cuz I'm a leaf on the wind. If kirby ever comes out on nintendo wii do you think it will include Wi-Fi connection? - Sharnay I don't really know if that would be the case. The game is multiplayer for certain with up to three helpers supporting Kirby. However, I don't really know how they'd due the wi-fi connectivity. Normally, I'd think that'd be for something like a fighting game or cooperative assault game. They by all right could have it, but I don't think such has been explicitly stated. If you think that it is a discrace to call Meta Knight SIR META KNIGHT, look at this. Read what the captain says. Yes, they adress him as that in Kirby Super Star. However, I know what you meant before. It is just once. 2. If Kirby was yellow and Keeby was pink, do you think that more people would play Kirby and stop hating him because he is pink and say it's for sissies? (Which is the LAMEST REASON not to like Kirby anyway.) - Halberd Stop Crashing 1) Words in my mouth, they taste like crap! I never said calling him "Sir" was a disgrace. Note how I spell it right, the primary indicator. I know you are referring to my words in this endlessly dug up statement regarding Señor Noodle Arms, but you really should learn how to read. "The full name reflects both aspects I hate of Meta Knight." Both, as in two. Now, what could those two facts be? Pointless Spanishness and noodle arms? Yes! Again, as I said in that very statement: "They call him 'Sir', I spoof with 'Señor'." The "Sir" title is the differientiation that separates the blurred line between the animated series Meta Knight and the real deal. It's one of the few things that divids the two in any fashion nowadays, sadly, as the armament has been mixing in recent appearances. Now, to the actual in-game text you reference, they're his underlings. You call your commanding officers "sir" out of respect and fear of being put in the brig. And, like you said, it's pretty much just that once. It has nothing to do with an official title of any manner. Which, really, since you claim to acknowledge all of this already, it's a wonder you even bothered mentioning it. 2) If Miyamoto got his way, I do think that Kirby would be more accepted, yeah. It's just a fact that people are very insecure. Pink is immasculine, and I know very few guys who want to have anything to do with it. Now, I'm not to say that if the hue was up a few bars on the scale that Kirby would overturn Mario in popularity or anything, but I bet folks wouldn't be as a doubting of him. One thing to remember is that it is largely Kirby's childish theme and game play that keeps fans at bay. Kirby works for his target audience, and those few devote fans who really don't know when to let go. do you believe in the kirby wii game? - 888Chilly I think it will, and I wish it would. But, deep down inside of me, in that dark corner where what remains of my heart resides. Yeah, way down there, I have a feeling of what will happen. It will be so long, so many years since the game was initially thought up, that what will come will be nothing like what was supposed to be and effectively be an entirely different game. That, or they'll foresee such being the case, scrap it, and just make an entirely new game to save time, pretty much recycling the graphics. Why are you deleting every single comment I make on the mailbag? I just made 3 bad comments, and now that I'm posting relevant ones, they're getting deleted. Please explain this to me. - Shruggin' Rock That's not me. I've deleted comments on there before, yeah, but I have nothing to do with this current wipe out. The ghosts of RE have their hands in the thick of it, and work in mysterious ways to clean up the site. I'm not the one doin' it, I tell you, but that doesn't mean I don't approve. RR. I mean RR. Why would I say otherwise? in adventure and nightmare in dream land was dark matter controlling nightmare. kirby warrior said so but i need one more guru on this. kirby kid signing out - Kirby Kid I had to see it to believe it. Yep, that's what Kirby Warrior said already. I really hate to squash the words of my predecessors but looks like I'll have to. This statement was, at the time, factual. At least, as far as we knew. You can see that the question itself is actually about how, shockle, Meta Knight turned evil. This was just an accepted at the time, but there were some crazy mentions to why such occurred. The prevailing theory was that Nightmare infected Meta Knight rather than die, which was used to explain the bizarre changes in just his person seen in his next appearance. After all, those bat wings were total WTF, mate? This was just what everyone knew happened. I'm not quite sure where it came from, but this was all later discredited. You can see that since this explanation given is even linked to this bogus theory, it is inherently flawed. Nothing about it is true, and I can't help but wonder if this is what Kirby Warrior thought could have happened or knew. In all honesty, the "Dark Matter controlling Nightmare" theory breaks so many established boundaries of character/director division, I don't even know where to begin. I will say, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that none of that is remotely true. It all sounds like it's fanon jargon. You know, it's pretty interesting to me to see what was written in the past Gurus. I mean, I admit that I've never bothered to read them. Why, there's stuff I'm sure, that I know, I've said since July that I'd prolly shake my head to now.
Repeat Response: Ono, the dinosaurs are taking over the cockpit!
