Ask Guru Gobbo #129

To switch things up, I thought I'd answer all questions in high pitched voice. It was an exhausting measure, and no one could hear the change, but I think it was well worth it.

Cripes! You're on to me...

Anyways, did Sakurai help design that Kirby game that's been held back forever? Because it could possibly be getting held back because he designed it and then left HAL, creating some chaos among the remaining designers. Or not, I just want to know if he was behind it!

I'm pretty sure these guys plan out the plot and characters a long time before actually designing the actual game. And he resigned after Air Ride, right? So then he could've gotten the project started.

Just asking because I can't find when that Kirby game was announced, so I figured what I said might be possible. Or it might be completely false.

0) I'm onto nothing. I just happen to periodically google myself. I use to do it a lot less frequently and mainly to see where sites were popping up my handle, but since people now pay attention to me, I'm getting an actual pool of results. Soon, Bizzlesnaff, your pilfered name will no longer be suggested in place of mine! Seriously, I had my name years before that came out.

1) No, that's not how it went down, unless Sakurai has temporal powers that he's hiding from us. Kirby's father left home during the birth of Crystal Shards. This had the greatest impact on Nightmare in Dream Land. Game Cube wasn't even on the horizon yet to have a game to be delayed to turn into the waited for Wii title. Of course, while his departure from the company wasn't directly responsible for the games muddled nature, I'm certain it had more than its share of nagging effects on the games development as it did on any game to debut in the sans Sakurai period.

A Message from Bimblesnaff of the Future

I really didn't know this before, but apparently Sakurai had minor development input in Amazing Mirror. I guess this was what Nightmare in Dream Land was suppose to be, so his involvement was just laying ground work out. Nothing much. It's like when someone in Hollywood writes a script and nothing of it is used in the movie but they are still mentioned in the credits despite a wholly new script being written. I doubt it was that drastic, but the guy was really out of the process, by years at the game's release.

2) Air Ride may have had some touches by him, but it might have just been conceptual and groundwork stuff. He's been quoted in saying that the first look he gave at any of the work on Crystal Shards was to the final product, wrapped up and ready for distribution. Since that was an N64 game and Air Ride, originally, was one, too, his contributions were probably minute to nil. He did no work even involving Kirby until Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Your website has a lot of the music from the kirby games and stuff but when are you going to have songs from Kirby Super Star Ultra? I would love to download songs off of that game.

- Rika35

Squeaky Bogg

I believe there's a shiny bow wrapped on that task already. If you go to the Multimedia section, it's categorized under Official Compact Disc. It's the actual soundtrack in CD form provided for the game, not just rips out of the game files. A little less expected than the standard format, but much more official. There was actually a main page update made not too long ago (it seems, but I'm probably off) to herald its arrival.

Don't ask me why, but I've been having some trip dreams about your sessions lately and here's a weird question that came up in my dreams...

Is DeDeDe like Kirby in the aspect that his insides are nothingness since he can pretty much perform the same things that Kirby can do like inflate himself or is he like normal penguin-like creatures where he has a skeletal structure and all? I'd just find inflating yourself hard to do if you got bones giving you limits.

And one more question. Why, honestly, would Whispy Woods be the easiest to defeat boss ever? Sure he can't move, but come on, ITS A TREE!!! I could sit there throwing apples at trees all day, but it won't kill it. I never understood how Kirby could just chunk a few shots at it or whatever and make him cry. I mean, he's still standing when Kirby wins. It's not like he got chopped down or burned to ashes. At least with bosses like Kracko, they disintegrate, but Whispy is still alive and kicking!

Oh, and would you mind telling Ometon to leave my dreams alone. He's been telling me to do bad things. Honestly, I fear my sanity.

- Leint

Squeaky Bogg

0) Yeesh, dreams involving me? Even I feel bad for you.

1) My personal impression on all Dream Landers is that they follow the null anatomy theorem established by cartoon physics. No guts, no insides, no bones, and everything is highly elastic. Just look at the King jump and puff up. He goes from flat to swelled with no effort. Plus, he managed to fit a whole Dark Matter inside of him. Had to have room somewhere, right?

2) Alive, yes, but kicking? Nope. It's like you said. Whispy is made to cry. You don't need to go for the knock out or even the T.K.O. Victory can be assured with submission. The tree is crying uncle and forfeiting his held prize. Trees are tough, sure, but Whispy is wimpy. He doesn't want to play anymore after those few hits and just wants the beatings to stop.

3) My hands are tied. I can't tell Ometon what to do otherwise he'll be dragging that deer into my subconsious.

Why is it that in the Kirby games, when Kirby eats someone, they disappear, but in the SSB games they don't?

- King Meta Dee

Squeaky Bogg

Does this even require an explanation? If a character had the ability to eat another player and remove them from the game in a one hit death move standard, I'd think they'd be the number one choice by all playing the game. In Kirby games, the enemies are piddle weaklings that are plowed through. In Smash Bros., they are other players who are suppose to be on par with Kirby's ability. To level out, they can't just be disposed of on a whim. It's a little thing called "balance".

1. When will kirbypedia be updated?

2. What kirby game holds the hardest boss, and who is it?

3.The "SAVE THE DAY" fangame doesnt work for me, why?

- Squeaky Boggs Taste Good

Squeaky Bogg

1) ... Ugh.

2) It's kinda funny to question both as one would inherently answer the other. Anyways, in my opinion, it's Dark Matter from Dream Land 2.

3) The only requirement for Save the Day to work is properly updated Java in your browser. That's one of its big selling points, should it have actually been sold. I just checked it, and it worked in my Sea Monkey on two different computers. The second one took a bit longer to load out, however. So, a quick Java update or a loading period is the what I can suggest.

Hey stop trying to give me name advice, well I think you should change your name to... uhhh Bimblesniffscocaine so there

1. When is Gobbo's birthday?

2. If Gooey is a guy piece of a part of some Dark Matter, and Dark Matter spans many universes, isn't it likely that there was another like him somewhere, or is it impossible because all of those universes were completely taken over by Dark Matter, so resistance would be futile?

I don't just have issues, I have a whole subscription.

- Tripp Crazy

Squeaky Bogg

0) My chosen handle doesn't contain a descriptive adjective, so the point isn't comparible.

1) I want to say sometime around fall of '04, but I don't have the actual notebook I first scribbled him down in handy (in the same state) to look that up.

Bimblesnaff of the Future says it was January 20th, 2005~!

2) Dark Matter doesn't span many universes. Technically, he's just in the regular one and has a Doppelganger in Mirror Country, who's also Nightmaresque. Since this fusion is a fifty-fifty mixture and the scope of Mirror Country is never fully given, there really isn't a trans-dimensional reach to Dark Matter. As for Gooey, since the blue blob is nonexistent, rightfully, in that chosen leg of Kirby canon, there wouldn't be one. Even if you were to consider the Dark Matter Trilogy to cross with the later titles, you must consider that Dark Mind isn't really made of Dark Matter. He's more a being of evil with Dark Matter similarities, so there wouldn't even be any clay to poorly sculpt Gooey out of in the first place for use in this hypothetical situation.

what are those things above sparky's head? the kirby wikia says they are antenna but I think that they're hands. so what are they? also I would like to know how to become a guru.

- Gameqube

Squeaky Bogg

Hands? That's a little out of place for my anatomical structuring. Those spheres used to be Sparky's eyes, as can be seen in early artwork for the guy. Those odd oculars were flailing around on thin little stalks. This is probably what translates to the antenna argument, but those balls aren't on any lengtheners any longer. The claim loses its stakes. I've seen them merely as what they are, yellow orbs on the side of its head. Why does it have to be anything in particular? They're obviously crucial to its high voltage hijinks with their flashing upon sparking. That's all I ever pinned them for -- a positive and a negative.

1. Why is sweet stuff's name... sweet stuff? For ironic humor? I could think of several better names. Like Angler, Freak Fish and Meg.

2. Why does Nago dispise pitch? In both the magna & games, Nago hates that bird.

3. Sorry, but I just remembered this. Is their a kirby DS? They have 2 pokemon ones, and also a LoZ one and a Mario one. But is there a kirby one?

Thanks|

- Waddle Doo Dah Day

Squeaky Bogg

1) You know, I would question its name, but it's Japanese, so I figured it was some type of cultural reference or joooke. They are sometimes mischief. And, if it is one, I don't get it. Maybe it has to do with the whole being an angler and luring prey in to it, like it is sweet stuff.

2) One is a small bird. The other is a large cat. Does that really need explained? Tom and Jerry. Sylvester and Tweety. Me and jailb- ... well, I guess that's not exactly the same.

3) That I can see, no. No Kirby DS are listed in the Wikipedia List of Special DS systems, and I don't believe the puff had any to his name. I know there's carrying cases and such, but no full fledged system.

what color is blob, ive only seen her in black and white?

i tried to join fanart, but when i entered in my password and username, nuntin hapend, why?

- Captin Kirby

Treca

1) Blob is never shown in color. She was technically just made by America to stand in for the little girl who originally appeared. She had colors and such, but Blob was a stand in. Her details were sketchy as her origins were rather rushed and accidental. No real color exists for her. However, if played on a colored Game Boy, she appears as a shade of pink. But, so does half of the characters.

2) My guess is that your account was not verified or established. I don't see a recognizable user in the listing of who signed up recently that matches anything close to your given handle.

how come in spring breeze u fight lololo & lalala in float islands and not castel lololo, i mean, if kaboola is not in float islands, whats the point, just delete the level and add castel lololo and all its chuckys and flaperrs and mumbies.

Squeaky Bogg

Yeah, and that's sort of why it was Float Islands rather than Castle Lololo. They already had all of the aquatic enemies and structures created for other levels in Super Star, things which appear in a lot of Kirby games. The castle, however, is home to a very exclusive cast of face who rarely if ever appear elsewhere. The entire point behind Spring Breeze was to wrap up the events and levels of Dream Land as quickly as possible. They had the first half of one level and the second half of another. They weren't going to have Kaboola and sure didn't need all those unique and worthless extra enemies for a non-focal sub-game. "No Duh" principle states that you work with what you got rather than bending over backwards for no greater pay off.

So, they have Float Islands because they wanted to have the Float Islands level. It is aquatic themed and offers different gameplay than the other kept levels. They didn't use Kaboola since they didn't want to have Kaboola. The blimp required some sort of shooting, final battle like weapon to be fought. It worked to repeat the Star Chariot in Revenge of the King but it'd be foolish to do so in the very first sub-game.

Why did to Ivyna J. Spyder And Kirby Warrior retire?

- Jordan

Squeaky Bogg

There really wasn't any reason in particular that the old Gurus stopped. Ivyna J. Spyder felt that she had already answered every question there was out there, or at least all of the important ones. Kirby Warrior I'm less aware of for reasoning. Really, it probably comes down to a time issue. Do you have any idea how much free time doing this eats up? It's a lot of my day. People find it hard to believe that I work so much for a site that isn't even mine. They find it hard that I would devote so much time to any website, really.

Repeat Response:

  1. Eric wanted to know the next game to expect: Wii.
  2. Kid Niki doubted Kirby's eight inch size.
  3. Welcome... questioned the Block ability.
  4. Explosive Kirby raised the Meta Knight sword branching/straight concern.

No ending for you. You just gotta live with it just like global warming.
