Now in Widescreen! |
Today's mailbag is brought to you with a brand-new set of coding, which has altered the appearance of most pages. If you've been sick of the pages only taking up a small part of your screen's hueg resolution, then... yeah.

Abruptly Announced "One-of-a-Kind Celestial Event" |
Quoted from press.nintendo.com:
"
MEDIA ALERT: ONE-OF-A-KIND CELESTIAL EVENT EXPECTED IN SEPTEMBER
Spectacular, Star-Filled Display Will Be Visible From Earth at Select Locations
WHAT: Authorities
at Nintendo are forecasting an extraordinary celestial event this
season. Expected to be visible on Sept. 18, this eye-popping occurrence
will be best viewed from a handful of specific U.S. locations (see
below). Experts are still deliberating over the scientific significance
of this rare phenomenon, but evidence points clearly to the reemergence
of a luminous entity that citizens from all walks of life will
appreciate.
WHO: Fun-seeking families and anyone who loves a spectacular event
WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008 Peak Viewing Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. C.D.T., 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. E.D.T.
WHERE: Optimum viewing locations are as follows and within a one-mile radius:
- Kirby Middle School – 1328 28th Street, Birmingham, AL 35234
- Kirby Historical Mill – 275 Church Road, Medford, NJ 08055
- Kirby Park – 301 Northampton Street, Kingston, PA 18704
- Kirby Gate Shopping Center – 6548 Quince, Memphis, TN 38119
VISUALS:
- A luminous spectacle that onlookers from coast to coast will be talking about
INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES:
- A Nintendo authority will be available for interviews at Kirby Middle School in Birmingham, AL"
...Well this is quite a predicament. Only two days notice on the event, and it's scheduled to be right in the middle of a school day...
...Listen up, anyone and everyone that lives in one of the listed four states! Beg your parents to let you skip school on Thursday to go to this Kirby eve-*smacked*
On a more serious note, I will try my best to see if I can get to one of the locations to report what exactly will go on at this event! (It's probably just going to be a demo tent/booth/whatever set up for Kirby Super Star Ultra, but...)

Nintendo Power unveils a chock-ton of Super Star Ultra info! |
I've never gotten why magazines are always released a month or so ahead, mang. Is it because they contain a ton of "coming soon" information the reason that video game magazines do it? I dunno...
Anyway! Nintendo Power reviewed Kirby Super Star Ultra in the most recent issue, giving it a respectable 9/10, and also giving better details on all of the new games!
- Revenge of the King is a "dark version of Spring Breeze". It may sound a tad disappointing that the game won't be entirely brand-new, but they've apparently upped the difficulty of the game a considerable amount, so it'll be great for those that want a good challenge.
- Meta Knight Ultra allows you to play through the entire game of Kirby Super Star Ultra as Meta Knight. The entire game! Hopefully you can save, unlike in Nightmare in Dream Land's Meta Knightmare.
- The two new Arena modes are Helper to Hero and The True Arena. In Helper to Hero, you can play through The Arena as (presumably) any and every helper character! The True Arena, on the other hand, will include the Revenge of the King bosses with the all the rest of the bosses. Hopefully the difficulty of the other bosses have been upped a bit to complement the newer, tougher bosses!
The release of Kirby Super Star Ultra is only three days away! (Four days away? A lot of games only start getting sold the day after they have been "released", but Kirby ought to be high-profile enough to warrant a first day release, right!?) Get those thirty dollar bills ready!
...Wait, what?

Delay :(?? |
Due to Gamespy maintenence cropping up every few minutes and a lack of (and possible loss of further) mailbag staff today, the mailbag will be delayed until next Sunday at the earliest. Sorry.
However, I can now give you a theme, as we were missing one from the last mailbag!
As Kirby Super Star Ultra will be released by the next mailbag, our question is simple: What do you think of the game? Good points? Bad points? A few comments or an in-depth review are equally welcome.

Fan Game update?! |
Sorry this took so long to do, but I forgot to update a few links for the kwrpg series. The kwrpg2 full game and patch are updated to 1.24.7.1 and 1.24.7.2 respectively for those who still play it. ... that's it really. :/
