Well this looks
familiar. This stage was taken straight from Super Mario 64.
This is the smallest stage in the game, but not the easiest to
play in.
The biggest
annoyance in this stage is the bumper right in the middle
overhead. Like the item, it doesn't do a lot of damage, but it
does get to be a pain in the neck. Also, it tends to move around
a bit when characters crash into it. Try to make sure you know
where it is.
On each side of
the stage there is a slope. You can't stand on it, so don't even
try. The problem is that it makes it very difficult to throw a
character out of the ring. If he or she hits it, he or she will
just bounce right back in.
The only other
thing to look out for is the moving platform at the bottom. You
can't grab onto the edge, but you can jump through it.
Congo
Jungle
If you liked
Donkey Kong 64 you might like this stage. It's more like Donkey
Kong Country with music, barrels, and everything else you would
expect.
You might not see
it at first, but there is a barrel underneath the bottom
platform. The only good this is for is if you fall off you can
try to land in. Eventual it will fire you. The problem is that
it rotates randomly, so you may just get fired even further
down.
The center
platforms moves around like little elevators. This is handy if
your holding a hammer, otherwise I would suggest to try to avoid
them.
Hyrule
Castle
If you liked
Ocirana Of Time,
this is the stage for you. Right down to the Hyrule Theme, this
stage has everything you could ever want from Link's stage.
This stage doesn't
have much to worry about, except for the tornados that is. These
things aren't very hard to miss, but if you get sucked into one,
your going to wish you did. There is no way to get out of the
tornado once your in, so just try to stay out of the way.
Planet
Zebes
If Metroid was
ever on the N64, this would certainly be part of it. For all of
you who missed the original Metroid games, this is where Samus
Aran hunted down the metroids.
Below the stage is
a lava pit that prevents you from falling out. The bad side is
that if you have to much damage on you, it will throw you out
anyhow. The other problem is that every once in a while it will
come up and engulf almost the entire playing field. That makes
who's in battle have to fight up-close and personal, but that's
better then taking your chances with the lava.
Yoshi's
Island
Well, isn't that
sweet. What could possibly go wrong here. You're soon to find
out. Yoshi's Island is taken straight from the game, sugar
coating and all. (Those face blocks on the side are just for
show, don't let them fool you.)
On both sides of
the playing area are clouds that just float around. You can jump
onto them, and Items tend to land on them as well, but beware. A
few seconds after you land on the cloud, it will just disappear.
That tends to make it a little difficult to get back.
The bottom "book"
platform can't be jumped through. Don't even try.
Dream
Land
This stage will
probably remind you more of the earlier Kirby games then Kirby
64. This tree (Whispy Woods) is usually the first boss in the
game.
About half a
minute into the game the tree will start to blow. It will switch
directions back and forth during the rest of the game. This
makes it a little more difficult to get back when thrown far
out. Other then that it's not much to worry about.
Sector Z
Who would have
ever thought that you could fight out in space, on the Great Fox
no less. This is the largest level in the game, so you might
want to stay to the center if you have a lot of damage, or
toward the edges if you plan on throwing somebody out.
Occasional an
arwing will come flying through. It will do one of two things:
just fly through blasting anybody in it's way, or it might hover
right above the ship. If it does the second, you can use it as a
platform, but be careful. Eventually it will fly away, and you
should make sure it isn't taking you with it.
Saffron City
You haven't seen
this before. Pokemon has been almost entirely exclusive to the
GameBoy, but at least the music you'll recognize. Up atop the
Silph Co. tower is probably the most dangerous stage in the
game.
What Makes this
stage so dangerous is the 5 Pokemon that will pop out of the
center platform.
Venusaur
This Pokemon will shoot
out green bursts. If you see it come out, try to stay off
the center platform.
Porygon
This Pokemon will just
pop out. There is no warning, so you can't do anything about
it when it happens.
Charmander
Like Venusaur, this
Pokemon will shoot out a flame, except if you get caught in
it, you could be stuck until it's done.
Electrode
When you see this guy
come out, just run! Don't ask questions, just run! He will
explode and send anybody near by into oblivion.
Chancey
When she comes out,
she'll just throw out a couple of eggs. Be careful, some
eggs are booby-trapped.
Mushroom
Kingdom
This brings back
memories. They even brought in the original 8-bit music. If you
don't know what I'm talking about, you missed a good game. This
staged is ripped right out of the original Super Mario Bros. on
NES.
Unlike the other
stages, this stage goes all the way to the edge in both
directions. You wouldn't be able to fall at all, if it wasn't
for the hole in the center. This stage is so large that the
camera won't pull back far enough to see the entire thing.
In this stage
there are three pipes that can will transfer you randomly to one
of the others. The two that can be seen are protected by a
pirhona plant, the other one dumps you out in the middle of the
center hole. These are good for a quick escapes, but unless your
using Kirby or Jigglypuff, I wouldn't suggest using them to
much.
Unless you played
the original arcade version of Mario, you probably don't
recognize the POW boxes. When hit it will send anybody touching
a platform into the sky. These show up in three places, so make
sure you know where they are to make sure nobody is getting a
little to close for comfort.
The last thing
your going to have to worry about is the two platforms above the
hole. They work on a pulley system so if you land on one it will
go down and the other will go up unless somebody else lands on
it. If one goes to low they will both break off. Never go on
these when holding a hammer!
Earn Mushroom Kingdom:
Beat the game with the
original 8 characters, and battle in the multi-player in each
stage at least once. Once you've done this, Mushroom Kingdom
will appear in your stage selection.
